Opinion: Inequities impacting Chicago's Black community likely to get uglier with 'Big Beautiful Bill'
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | July 12, 2025 | By Alden Loury

It’ll be months before many provisions of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” will take effect, but the impact for some parts of Black Chicago can be seen a mile away.

It’s going to be bad, real bad.

It might be premature to make firm predictions on how the wide-ranging bill will impact individuals and their households. However, considering its historic changes to safety net programs like Medicaid and food stamps, many are predicting the Trump Administration’s signature legislation will have a dramatic effect on low-income Americans. Some say work requirements and other changes could result in households receiving fewer benefits or losing them altogether.

But even with the uncertainty, it’s safe to say that communities that have endured economic struggles for decades will likely see those struggles continue. And there are few places that rival parts of Black Chicago in terms of consistent disinvestment, segregation and other factors that contribute to long-term economic stagnation.

Addressing poverty has never been easy. There are no quick fixes. But the first step to finding solutions might be realizing that the problems of persistent poverty are much more complex than people simply not wanting to work.

What if the ARE simply “not wanting to work” and its iterations of negative attitudes? What then?

Because of Dem’s tax hikes and sanctuary state laws, EVERYONE in Illinois will suffer.

Addressing poverty has never been easy.

It is not government's (local or federal) responsibility to "address" poverty.

Many hundreds of millions of tax dollars have gone down that drain hole, to no effect.

By deporting the illegals in the Blue Cities, crime will go down, unemployment will drop, as will housing costs. When those living in these places notice, the Rats will lose voters. So, they need to print all of this propaganda about how horrible Trump’s policies will be.

Somebody actually wrote this without any sense of irony?
Some say work requirements and other changes could result in households receiving fewer benefits or losing them altogether.

It is not government's (local or federal) responsibility to "address" poverty.

And it is racist to assume Blacks are too stupid or lazy to get a good job

Like millions over the age of 120 on Social Security. Like Illegal Aliens on Medicare. He's right, those troughs are drying up.

And the Illegals are pouring back across the southern border.

Sigh, another journalism major continuing their unbroken tradition of exposing their lack of education science, economics, civics, or common sense.

Why, oh why is it that those who say things like this can’t or won’t see this is precisely what a majority of Americans voted for in 2024?

Of course, what else could it be?

All able-bodied blacks are approved for Medicaid and disability because it is black bureaucrats who determine approvals, and the most important consideration is race.

The bill would impose an 80-hour monthly work requirement for able-bodied adults to receive benefits; the change would take effect by no later than December 2026.

Not as bad as they were with the Joe Pedo Invasion of America administration. Twenty one million foreign freeloader invaders imported by the Biden Blue Smurfs made it tougher for African American males. All the money went to foreign invaders. The DemonRATS are not their friends.
