I don’t have a good answer for that.
Growing up in Florida in the 1940’s and 1950’s we would, from time to time, have Mexican students join us for a short period. These were the children of farm worker parents who came to work in the fields during harvest. These people were not US citizens. When the harvest season ended, they would return to Mexico. This was normal to us. Nothing to be alarmed about.
Without these people the fruit/vegetables would have rotted in the fields. I have no idea how this should work in 2025. Others more knowledgeable need to figure this out, but we do need to be able to eat.
Calmate, por favor-They are sponsors-they have to do all that-taxpayers are not responsible for sponsored individuals-they are not allowed any public assistance etc-the sponsor must provide that, document and prove that he/she is meeting the terms of sponsorship-it is not easy or cheap...
Afraid that
Soft and squishy is the american work force , not as a whole, but enough so that it is refreshing to see anyone with work ethics, not the normality.
Letting the good labor work on IS a good thing, cutting off the grifting on both sides is WINNING.
“China owns about 1%.”
That we know of. I’m sure the CCP has enlisted the assistance of “middle-man” corporations to hide their interests.
I recall hearing the same thing about that Tyson chicken plant that was raided. Funny thing is next day hundreds of Americans looking for jobs stood in line.
Illegal aliens on farms are working and earning money. Illegal aliens in cities are sucking down welfare and housing benefits and a few are working
We had “pickers” from Puerto Rico who came to our towns in Western NYS. Same thing, i.e., came to pick cross and then returned home.
BC......stop making things up...
If they’ve been here for years why aren’t they citizens yet? Why not sponsor a bill (whatever) to get employers on the hook for these “loyal” illegals to become citizens (and pay taxes), paid minimum wage, cover expenses for any crimes they commit while in their employ and see how many farmers want to keep these employees?
As long as the “farmers” feed them, pay to send their kids to school, buy their food, pay for the medical bills, pay for their shelter,
Like that will happen. Sure it will.
Whatever happened to the “Guest Worker” program?
I remember it well ( well, kind of) from way back when.
Cesar Chavez, United Farm Workers, and everything.
Seasonally, immigrant farm workers were allowed into the US to work harvests. It was controlled, they had guest worker visas and everything.
Was that all thrown overboard for a particular reason?
You and AI say 1%, but knowing how conniving and deceitful China is, it’s a case of “You don’t know what you don’t know”. Secret real estate purchases are totally within the realm of possibility.
I grew up on a family ranch, but the big farmers and ranchers hired migrant labor when I was a kid-the workers lived on/near the place they worked, they were provided food and health care by their employer and they went home to Mexico at the end of the season. As a comp case manager, I’ve had foreign clients who had an American sponsor-that is where I learned what a big responsibility that is...
I was speaking with a co worker about WHY IN THE HELL these farm workers did not get their green cards?? WELL her mom and dad had been working the fields in CA. for 20 years you have to be sponsored by a relative OR employer to to get your green card, the damn farmers would NEVER consider sponsoring them BECAUSE they were paying them UNDER minimum wage, NO workers comp., NO medical IF they stepped up to sponsor these workers the farmer would have been on the hook to pay the workers accordingly!! Well needless to say that information really pissed me off!! As far as I am concerned if the farmers need the workers they MUST sponsor them for green cards, NOT AMNESTY, green cards, the immigrants then must work towards their citizenship the legal way!!
I would accept this, IF Hb1 were terminated.
Kee0 the Farmworkers. DEPORT LEFTISTS!
No.
Lived in this country for 40+ years......always been a Guest Worker Program for agriculture.
When a few thousand people crossed illegally in a year, people tended to ignore it. But in the last 20 years it ramped up to a million a year, and under Obama and Biden, multiple millions per year. So no, until this thing is under control we should go hard.
And anyway, there are plenty of farm workers who have managed to get legal over the years. They’ll be in high demand now, which is good for them. Illegal workers undercut people who are already at the low end of the wage scale. They are hurting legal farmworkers.
