Kittens are in the house!¡!
This always makes me happier.
I volunteered to help a lady feed her colonies, she’s one amazing 72-year-old. She feeds and keeps several colonies alive. Traps the new ones and gets them fixed. She had two kittens show up, people are absolutely horrible here at dumping animals. I hope they meet the same Fate One day.
Anyway she trapped them, took 4 hours to get the second one but she was going to separate them. They were glued together in their cage at the shelter. They weren’t sure if they were feral or not or if they could be socialized, if not then they would have to put them to sleep. So I took them to see if I could get them friendly in a couple weeks. I think they’ll be okay, if I was dumped on ceremoniously in the winter somewhere and had to fight adult cats to eat, didn’t know where to sleep and only had my sibling to cuddle with and no mama, I would be traumatized as well. They don’t hiss and they only try to scratch and bite if you forcibly come near them. So I’ll just give them some time.
I had to promise hubby they would go back to the shelter no matter what. That they wouldn’t even be our barn cats. I don’t know what is so wrong with that. But I already had plans to make Priscilla our barn cat, she’s a beautiful long-haired tortoise shell that I’m going to be feeding. If I can get her friendly to me and pick her up, I’ll bring her home, those poor long hairs have a hard time even though it looks like they’d be warmer. But she’ll get some horrible mats if she doesn’t already. Shhĥhhh... don’t let him know. LOL
His neighbor up here moved to Arizona and is a real go-getter. He’s got a big Airbnb operation going. He has everything sorted out with Mike and Mike will have more than enough to invest and work down there. His friend has it all sorted out.
This friend, and his wife, were their best friends and neighbors. They’ve missed them a lot after they moved to Arizona. Mike said the only reason they haven’t already gone is because of us and Natalie & Matt and kids.
I’m so, so sad. I’ve never been apart from the kids and their families.
Well good for you! Sounds like you’ve got your hands full for awhile. You’ll have them purring with you in no time!

I just mapped out my route for tomorrow. I have a tote in my car with cat food, water, a brush to sweep up rocks (apparently that’s a problem with ferals eating on the ground, they chip teeth), some wet food, bowls, plastic spoons.
It’s gonna be down to 18° so I have a hat I bought yesterday with earmuffs and my big coat. Got the long underwear out. I feel so sad that they have to be out in that weather. They have feeding stations but they don’t have shelters. It’s all on private property so they might not be allowed to have a bunch of plastic totes with straw in them all over the place. I just hope I can get down my driveway.

Kitchen in AM …. Well not exactly balmy. Will be challenging in morning. Between 9-11 are my prime times to sit at kitchen table and work on Jewelry as the sun it there. I bundle up in layers and wear my heaviest Smart Wool socks.

They’re still pretty scared when I come in, as you can see. When I’m gone and have the kitten cam on, they are all over the place, they have played with all the toys and eaten all the wet food and know how to use the litter box.
Since they’re still shy, we don’t know who’s a boy and who’s a girl. Her names I was thinking, Lucy and Ricky, or Lucy and Ethel. If they are both boys, I don’t think Ricky and Fred work, nobody would figure that out. Or maybe caraway and cardamom, those are gender neutral.
What do you think, any suggestions are welcome!
I need to learn how to nap.
I got in the habit when I was recovering of staying up half the night. It was the most peaceful time, the house was quiet, I had a bunch of animals in bed with me, and I just watched movies and it was delightful. The pain pills helped a lot, but for some reason they don’t make me sleepy, but just the opposite. But I felt no pain so I enjoyed myself.
I’m still staying up night late though, kind of a habit and it’s fun to watch movies then. But I don’t get enough sleep because I automatically get up at eight for some reason.

Or maybe the wrong one! I could nap standing up. I think the reason I can nap so readily is because I never sleep for more than a couple of hours.
Some days I don’t bother to lie down and sleep a bit, but most days I do (especially with the cold weather.) I have an electric blanket thing on the bed (not the kind that you put over you, but the kind that you cover with a fitted sheet so it warms up your bed. I have my speaker on the night table, so I put something on that I will listen to and just snuggle into bed and close my eyes. I rarely hear anything after 5 minutes lol.
Give it a try.....once you start napping, you’ll never look back lol.
How cute! How about Bert and Ernie for two boys? I like Ricky and Lucy. If you sit in the room for awhile do they venture out?
That sounds great, I really like your electric thingy that is underneath you. I’ll have to look for one of those. I actually have a heating pad that I used when I got home because I had a backache, I’m still using it because I prefer the heat underneath me.
