Three Iranian men were executed this week on alleged charges of collaborating with Israel, according to the Islamic Republic judiciary, bringing the total number of people put to death on similar charges during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel to six.
The hangings were part of the “season of traitor-killing,” according to Iran’s ISNA News Agency, as Iranian authorities pushed the executions through less than 48 hours after the ceasefire between Iran and Israel was announced on Monday.
Iran’s judiciary said the men were convicted of espionage on behalf of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency. However, human rights activists claim the men were Kurdish day-laborers with no access to classified information and were denied fair trials.

It's all for show. Iran is looking for examples and scapegoats. They're using fear tactics to keep the population in line.

By all indications, both Israel and the US knew here Khomanei was and chose not to take him out.
IMO, they should have and let the chips fall where they may, but they have access to far better intelligence and may know that it’s better to wait. They may know information on planned overthrows.
When they have no Jews or Christians to kill, they always resort to each other. Whomever they consider not Muslim enough.

Something to remember in all this is the insane Martyrdom of their faith. To those who are extremely faithful beyond reason a dead leader of faith can be a hundred times more powerful and dangerous than one still living...
So I think this was taken into consideration and influenced the decisions not to take him out.

Typical muslim, grab anyone off the street and kill them, especially infidels, to rid themselves of stress. Koran teaches kill the infidel.
Sounds like this is more than a “crackdown” ... you know, with the “speedy executions” and all.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Mossad set up a few Iranians to appear to be spies.
