Iran has arrested hundreds of its citizens, accused them of spying for Israel, and has fast-tracked a law to quickly execute more accused people, the New York Times reported on Saturday.
The NYT reported that Iranian authorities have asked citizens to alert them to anyone wearing sunglasses or a hat, trucks with covered beds, and vans driving late at night in the regime’s latest crackdown against suspected Israeli spies.
The Islamic Republic has grown increasingly paranoid about the presence of spies within its borders after the end of the Israel-Iran War.
“We had a massive security and intelligence breach. There is no denying this,” said Mahdi Mohammadi, a senior adviser to Iran’s speaker of Parliament, as reported by the NYT.
The Jerusalem Post previously reported that Iran had arrested at least 700 people and executed six. On Saturday morning, BBC Persian said that the Human Rights Activists in Iran reported that the regime detained 35 Jewish citizens and accused them of spying for the Jewish state.
Fears of the Islamic Republic regime crushing political dissidents
Those arrested have not had access to lawyers and have been arrested without warrants.
The report noted that some citizens inside Iran were worried that the arrest campaign could lead to the regime cracking down on political dissidents and protesters.
The manhunt has led several international human rights groups to express their concerns about the expedited trials and executions.
Amnesty International noted that Iran’s Supreme Council of National Security stressed that any actions that it believes are in favor of Israel will result in execution, to the effect of efforts to “legitimize or sanitize the image of the Zionist regime,” “disseminate rumors or false information,” “incite or encourage individuals or groups to act against national security,” or “sow division among the segments of society, ethnicities, and religious sects of the country.”
The human rights group noted that there are at least eight Iranians at imminent risk of execution, some of whom had been forced to confess under torture.
Amnesty International called on authorities to “immediately halt all plans to carry out further executions or to impose death sentences and urgently establish a moratorium on all executions.”
“Like a wounded animal, the Islamic Republic is going after every perceived threat in the country with deadly force,” Director of the Center for Human Rights in Iran, Hadi Ghaemi, noted in a statement.
Notably, the Mossad and the IDF have said that Israeli agents and collaborators were working within Iran for months before the strikes and that they would continue to operate there for as long as needed.
Mossad chief David Barnea told his agents in a recent video that “we will [continue to] be there, like we have been there.”
He went on to note the agency’s “unimaginable” achievements, noting that hundreds of agents were working in Iran at the height of operations.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Col. Eyal Zamir also revealed on Wednesday that commando forces had acted in Iran alongside the Israel Air Force and the Mossad.
Iranian authorities have said that they found several thousand drones in the country, according to the state news agency Fars.
“It’s clear the Mossad has a very wide network inside Iran – and probably 90% of them are locals,” according to Mohammad Ali Shabani, an Iran analyst and independent news editor. “The big question is: Who are they? Fingers are being pointed all over the place.”
Though the report noted that there are several advantages to spying for Israel for Iranian dissidents, including financial boosts, Shabani said that some Iranians now feel a need to help the regime.
“In an apparent new dynamic, some people seem to actually want to help them,” he said.
One resident of Tehran who spoke to the NYT said that she believed there was a network of spies within Iran and added that she had reported what she claimed was a Mossad safe house in her neighborhood.
“In our own neighborhood, we reported a safe house,” the source told the NYT. She claimed that she saw authorities remove drones and arrest several people.
Still, some Iranians worry that the crackdowns will expand to include political opponents of the regime.
“Right now, they want to make sure no one mocks the regime or has hope for regime change,” Mohammed Reza, a citizen of Tabriz, told the Times via text message. “The regime’s main fear is that people will perceive it as weak. Because if people know it lacks power, they will revolt.”
For the love of God I hope that they didn't misgender anyone, and used the correct pronouns.
God forbid if they dead named anyone.
Something for the dems, media, and college anti-semites to cheer for!
Why has Mossad been incredible effective in Iran?
Iran had a thriving Jewish community under the Shah. These were Iranian Jews and an integral part of the Iranian community and loyal to the Shah. Most fled Iran.
I must suspect that those did not flee Iran came back to Iran are now Mossad.
In the United Kingdom it would be I you not only misgendered
but created a MEME criticizing a Leftist Politician.
Not that I’m familiar with such things, mind you....dindu nuffin!!
LORD have mercy on the people of Iran.
It’s amazing what Israel’s cyber warriors can put on your hard drive and smart phone.
A really jacked up way to go, if I’m being honest.
Yeah, that’s insane
Absolutely insane

Darn contact lense and autocorrect.
Wait till they realize that the Ayatollah is a secret agent of the Zionist Entity.
I really have to give Mossad huge credit for the things they’ve done to defeat Iran, and especially the paranoia they’ve created amongst the regime.

Yes, I wonder how many loyal Iranians are being framed by the Israelis as Mossad agents, arrested, and executed. This will further deplete the Iranian upper echelon.
Regieme change would have prevented the tyrants from this action. Likely too late now.
The Israelis never forget with their determined enemies
The agents were/are incredibly brave !
I imagine the Mossad also has a program to feed ‘suspects’ to the Iranian regime.
This is why we should have armed Iranian citizens: The mullahs will diminish any organized opposition by any means. This cease fire has been very destructive to them.
Perhaps the Mossad and IDF should not have bragged or revealed so much.Bragging is usually counterproductive.
Can’t one of our federal judges stop this?
It’s the UK practicing Soviet Russia Stalinist era.
