McDonald’s ‘disappointed’ as backlash grows in Texas
San Antonio Express-News (MySA) ^ | June 26, 2025 | Melanie Salazar

Posted on 06/27/2025 7:36:31 AM PDT by Salman

Since the start of 2025, corporate chains have increasingly become the focus of large-scale boycotts in Texas and beyond, attracting thousands of supporters of the grassroots advocacy group, the People's Union USA. In its latest rallying cry, the organization is calling for a week-long boycott of the fast-food giant McDonald's, starting today.

...

The advocacy group is demanding that the fast-food giant company impose "fair taxes, an end to price gouging, real equality and corporate accountability," Schwarz wrote in a post. The campaign urges consumer to not spend their money at the business for a week.

...

The company said it would end its practice of "setting aspiration representation goals," pause its "external surveys," (although it did not specify which ones), and end its "Supply Chain’s Mutual Commitment to DEI pledge." It also said it would refer to its "diversity team" as the "Global Inclusion Team" going forward.

I worry Abbott is not sufficiently able and willing to fight these wokesters and he is going to let TX turn purple, if not blue.

"fair taxes, an end to price gouging, real equality and corporate accountability,"

Any idea what this means? Whatever they want it to.

"The idea that DEI initiatives should be abandoned is backward, regressive, and dangerous," the People's Union website states. "Every American deserves a fair shot at success, and that includes every race, every background, every belief system."

Abbott should buy McDonald's lunch for each of the state employees in that area, which would be a boon to those affected McDonalds.

I WOULD ASSUME THAT FAST FOOD PLACES PAY/CHARGE THE SAME TAXES AS ALL OTHER BUSINESSES

Umm...you can’t get a cheaper fast food meal than McDonald’s. I’ve seen nothing about discriminatory practices related to McDonald’s. I have no idea what they mean by “corporate accountability”.

Not sure what point these people are trying to make.

For the record, I can’t remember the last time I was in a McDonald’s, but this makes me want to visit one.

I would be very interested in the demographic makeup of the leadership or decision makers for this “People’s Union”.

I believe it is the same group that has historically been known as “troublemakers” for sane societies. Hence, their reason for an inability to call a country their “home” until recently in geologic time!!

In all honesty, I have not set foot in a McDonald’s in several years. No other reason than their “food” is plain garbage. Besides....we have WHATABURGER!

Texas Ping, the Best State in the USA!

A ping out to the Texas Ping list, founded by Windflier.

Boycotts had begun in October, after its franchise in Israel announced it would give free meals to Israeli troops involved in the war in Gaza, the outlet adds.

Another plot to protest ... something, probably Israel. Please eat at McDonalds just to show that these fake-Commie protestors can't manufacture a "news story" that gets picked up by a liberal newsrag such as the San Antonio Express. Any other ideas?

Another special Texas summer edition for your perusal.

As always, please FReepmail me if you want on or off the Texas Ping list.

Blessings, and stay cool!

I'm sure they get lunch stipends from whomever is financing their protests that week.

Just had some McDonalds in Dallas. Didn’t know I was a counter protester but I’m all for happy accidents.

I'm not boycotting McDonalds for anything related to society initiatives. I stopped going to McDonalds because of prices, quality of food, and the bait-and-switch surrounding McRib sandwiches. I've compared prices of a take-out dinner at McDonalds with the prices for a local sit-down restaurant. Even with tip, the latter is less expensive for a comparable amount of food.

Nothing personal, it's just business.

I’ll pass. Don’t eat much fast food ... especially the swill that McD’s serves.
