Only 5% of New Yorkers Voted for Mamdani
FrontPage Magazine ^ | June 26 2025 | Daniel Greenfield

Less than 30% even bothered to vote.

In my post last night, I noted the implausibility of Mamdani’s election numbers compared to his polling in which he performed poorly with

anyone over 50 Black people and Latinos women the working class

I said the results either reflected low turnout or tinkering. Probably both.

Well the low turnout has been confirmed. Less than 30% of Democrats voted in the party’s mayoral primary. Of those 43% supposedly voted for Mamdani. (Ranked choice voting also makes this whole thing more complicated, but I’m keeping it simple.)

As I note in my upcoming article, “56% of registered voters in the city are Democrats so some 7.2% of city residents voted for him. New York City has a population of 8.2 million. Of those 432,305 or 5% voted for Mamdani.”

You can go with the 7% figure which represents voters, but either way this is far from the massive sweep of the city that the media is hyping.

Most New Yorkers didn’t vote for Mamdani. Even most Democrats stayed home.

A little sane commentary from Mr Greenfield. Even if NYC is still nuts.

And my money is on tinkering.

This is how AOC got elected - Low voter turnout. She took advantage of the apathy people have for their elected officials. Now you can’t get her out of that seat.

The way this guy wins the general IMO is if both Adams and Cuomo run as independents.

Irrelevant. I hate when liberals say only 31 percent voted for Trump.

Yes, probably both. When voter turn-out is so low, how can you call your form of government democracy. You can’t. It has gotten to the point that most people are completely jaded about elections actually changing anything in Democrat-run cities.

If that happens, the Republican, Curtis Sliwa, probably wins.

Then ask “How many voted for Harris? Less than 30%?”

I lived in a congressional district where the radical progressive candidate counted on low turnout. They did lots of in person meetings to build a voting group for themselves while otherwise being quiet so that the average voter didn’t even realize that there was a race going on.

The incumbent saw what was going on and started doing generic ads just encouraging people to vote (vote for anyone, just vote) knowing that with name recognition he would get most of the votes of casual voters. And he won.

Is there any republican running for NYC mayor? If so, I have not heard of any and I do not consider myself a low information voter.

If there is, it must be the worst political campaign since Kamala Harris

Forget my last question about who in the republican party is running. Pretty bad they keep running the loser of the last election.

Even if it was 1% turnout, the results count. The Islamofascist Nazis do not care how the get into office, the important thing is to TAKEOVER the US via “soft”, “kind” and “gentle” JIHAD.

Wake up folks.

Its a win for those that chose to vote. That is
what elelctions are for. Not for the total that
chose to sit on the side lines.
