Jewish New Yorkers were “stunned” and “disgusted” in the run-up to Tuesday’s mayoral primary by bizarre pro-Zohran Mamdani text messages claiming to come from a friend of a slain Oct. 7, 2023 terror attack victim.
The shady sender told a registered Democratic voter — who shared the texts with The Post — that they were an Orthodox Jew supporting Mamdani, a vocal critic of Israel and its war in Gaza.
“I want to go a bit off script for a second because I’m Jewish, wear a kippah every day, and I support Zohran,” the text said.
“My friend Idan was murdered on October 7 at the Re’im music festival. The war is personal to me, as it is to many in our community. Idan believed in peace, just like Zohran does,” the June 12 message continued, invoking the memory of a murdered Israeli.
The gobsmacking messages came after the Jewish voter responded to an initial text tagged with “Zohran for NYC” by arguing that Mamdani wouldn’t receive any votes from Jewish New Yorkers like them.
The voter said they were “stunned” and “disgusted” by the texts seemingly trying to exploit the memory of murdered Jewish people to drum up votes for Mamdani — who appeared to be running neck-and-neck with former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the heated Democratic primary.
“It’s trying to normalize that other Jews are voting for him, that he’s for the Jewish people – even though everything he says is the opposite of that,” said the voter, an Upper East Side Democrat who backed Cuomo and Whitney Tilson in the ranked-choice contest.

(he’s a Muslim...)
Choosing the lesser of evils is an evil choice.
Heard he’s leading in the polls. Not surprised. He has berknee and ao’c’ endorsement.....
Cuomo will win.
And if not, Adams will win in November. He'll be on the ballot as an Independent.
Curtis Sliwa, mayor-elect.
I am not now, nor have I ever been, a New Yorker. Just a diligent observer. I suspect you’re right. No disrespect, but Curtis Sliwa is old news to the rest of the country. Can the republicans really not do any better?
Prayers for Eric Adams and NYC.
I’d vote for Sliva. But you do realize he hasn’t a chance.
“Jewish New Yorkers furious over bizarre pro-Zohran Mamdani texts evoking Oct. 7 attacks: ‘Disgusted’”
Jewish people are ALL FOR Muslims gaining political power, in general, as they think their support will ‘moderate’ them, while at the same time, they think that the Muslims will also keep the Christians (who they REALLY fear) in check.
But, I guess, there is a limit, at least in New York, for now.
True, but he retains some minor celebrity status among older New Yorkers.
Can the republicans really not do any better?
In NYC? No.
Mark Simone said Sliwah will win.
Lol. Dirty tricks by Cuomo. Gotta hand it to the murdering sociopath.
Unreal. Like the chicken voting for Colonel Sanders. But there is a heavy dose of Socialism and socialist thought among the Jewish community, especially around New York. So it’s no big surprise to see some of them coming out and voting for the socialist.
I am a NYer and live 40 mins north of NYChitty and i agree with you- though Curtis Sliwa would also have a good chance if the ayatollah wins the rat primary...
And as someone who was born and raised in this state which is quickly becoming a 3rd world craphole, i have ZERO pity for the liberal Jews in NYChitty or Westchester county where i live- like blacks they ALWAYS vote against their own interests in voting for the rats....
I told my buddy- a Jewish conservative in Dallas- i hope the ayatollah wins the primary and the mayoral race....it will be the final nail in the LW coffin for NYChitty...
If alive, Osama bin Laden would win NYC.
Yeah, I was immediately reminded of his father’s campaign against Ed Koch. “Vote for Cuomo, not the homo.”
“Lol. Dirty tricks by Cuomo. Gotta hand it to the murdering sociopath.”
Runs in the family. During the 1977 NYC mayoral race the Cuomo people started a vicious whispering campaign against Ed Koch. The slogan was “Vote for Cuomo, not the homo.”
Darn it. Ya beat me to it.
