“On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger read General Order No. 3 aloud to the people in Galveston, TX. It read, in part: “The people of Texas are informed . . .”

Order No. 3 is short, why not publish the entire thing?

I'll tell you why: the order is the classic example of northern racism. Look it up!

If the Emancipation Proclamation were issued today, a Democrat federal circuit judge in Washington D.C. would decree it illegal and issue a stay against its enforcement.

ONLY if Trump signed it.

If Obama had signed it, it would never be stopped, and he'd be awarded another Nobel Peace prize by the gushing white people of Scandinavia.

GENERAL ORDERS, NUMBER 3

The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a Proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free. This involves an absolute equality of personal rights and rights of property between former masters and slaves, and the connection heretofore existing between them, becomes that between employer and hired labor. The Freedmen are advised to remain at their present homes, and work for wages. They are informed that they will not be allowed to collect at military posts; and that they will not be supported in idleness either there or elsewhere.

Never scheduled here. Been going on in south Texas since what, 1865. Now it’s a new rallying cry. Even the NWS has today named it today instead of “19”. 🙄

Interesting factoid: Only three states kept slavery until the 13th Amendment was ratified on 6 December 1865. They were also the only states that voted Democrat in the election of 1864:

“Lincoln was not sure that the Emancipation Proclamation would hold up in court so he was very eager for the 13th Amendment to be ratified to settle the issue for good.”

A case can be made that Lincoln intended to abolish slavery from before the war. After arranging the Gulf of Tonkin Incident - I meant to say the Fort Sumter Incident - Lincoln took up arms to violently overthrow the pro-slavery United States Constitution.

Set aside for a moment President Lincoln took an oath to protect and defend the pro-slavery United States Constitution.

......The Southern Poverty Law Center describes Juneteenth on its Learning for Justice website as a celebration of “marginalized communities’ resistance while underscoring a troubling truth: the historical perpetuation and ongoing exacerbation of racism and queerphobia in the United States.”......

Juneteenth was NEVER about “queerphobia”!

Phooey!

I am still boycotting local businesses that had Pride flags last year even though none have gone there this year.

The "pride" marketing campaigns translated into negative sales for these companies.

It was wasn't a boycott, it's a divorce.

Today is National Martini Day.

https://nationaltoday.com/national-martini-day/

Today is also Julius and Ethel Rosenberg Day (1953).

So have a drink to celebrate J+E getting snuffed, and forget the Juneteenth nonsense.

I always considered Juneteenth as a most severe racial insult. I was about blacks in Galveston “discovering” they were emancipated more than a year earlier. Implying all blacks are “slow”.
