For political junkies who cut their teeth on “60 Minutes,” “Meet the Press,” CNN, and Fox News, longform podcasts were a godsend. Finally freed of commercial restraints and surface-level superficialities, longform podcasts took you beyond the talking points, treating audiences to a deep dive of a topic’s intricacies. Even when the podcast host had limited knowledge of the subject matter (Joe Rogan, I’m looking at you), the benefit of the longform platform was that it facilitated an open-ended, free-floating conversation where both sides learned more about the other.
But there was an important catch: It only worked when both sides were acting in good faith. You had to really, truly care about what they say. More than anything else, that’s the secret to Joe Rogan’s phenomenal success: He’s genuinely curious about his guests.
He doesn’t invite them on to mock them or belittle them. He’s not trying to settle stupid feuds, score points, or play a political game of “gotcha.” Instead, Rogan respects his guests and wants to learn more.
That sure wasn’t Tucker Carlson’s approach during his astonishingly mean-spirited interview with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.). The ex-Fox News host had absolutely no interest in hearing Cruz’s opinions or to better understand his (and President Trump’s) position on Israel, Iran, or anything else. His purpose wasn’t to have a grown-up conversation about grown-up issues, but to mock and belittle Ted Cruz so the video “goes viral”:
Ted Cruz tried his best to be conciliatory: He warmly welcomed Tucker Carlson (the interview was filmed in Cruz’s Senate office).

The vast majority of us didn’t give a rat’s ass where Senator Cruz was either. It was the media that made a big deal about it and the lefties got all excited and wet their pants.
You texans sure are a pathetic, needy, government-dependent lot
Piss off, twonk.
That other individual makes it the centerpiece of her irrational cruz-hate. Funny how it works that way.
Looks like you're a bit butt-hurt over having your nose rubbed in the truth. Awwwwwww ....
Well, I like many of the base are hoping he IS’NT a neocon! He has a tendency to appoint idiots who lead him into terrible decisions. The neocons are a cancer who will spend and kill people for their own empire ambitions. This isn’t what Trump was elected on. If he enters this war his presidency is through. Like Johnson and Vietnam, the rest of his term will be consumed fighting a globalist empire war. Just say NO.
Did Glenn Beck do the same thing? I listened to him for years on radio, then then on TV he started to crumble. Kooky guests, chalkboard sessions, and finally cheetos. Bizarre and sad to watch.
Dream on, Skippy. People like you are a joke. All you Democrats think you’re so much more impactful than you really are.
Project much, twonk? 😁
RE: This isn’t what Trump was elected on. If he enters this war his presidency is through…
Well, as of now, the USA under Trump IS ALREADY deeply entangled—militarily, diplomatically, and rhetorically.
President Trump has not YET committed U.S. forces, but he has made threatening statements, including a demand for Iran’s “unconditional surrender” and a warning to evacuate Tehran.
The U.S. has deployed military assets to the region, including refueling tankers, destroyers, and the USS Nimitz carrier group, suggesting readiness for escalation.
So while the U.S. hasn’t fired a shot, it’s on the edge of direct involvement.
You seem to want Trump to say “it’s none of America’s business, Israel, you’re on your own”.
Well, my reading of Trump BEFORE the elections is he does not harbor that isolationist attitude and I voted for him BECAUSE of that.
Trump’s policy on the use of military force is best described as selective engagement rather than true isolationism. While he often uses “America First” rhetoric that appeals to non-interventionist instincts, his actions and current posture suggest a willingness to use force when U.S. interests—especially security or prestige—are at stake.
The question we have to answer is this — is Iran possession of nukes and ballistic missiles capable of carrying these nukes a threat to US Security? Do we take their regular “Death to America” chants in parliament seriously or is that just harmless rhetoric?
I take it seriously and so does Trump and I voted for him precisely because he took them seriously. I don’t know how you understand the term neocon, but Trump never gave the impression that he would not be willing to use America’s military if needed and he HAS used them ( see recent bombing of Houthis in Yemen ).
If you voted for him thinking that he worn not get the US Military involved in any foreign action, you read him wrong. He never gave me that impression.
I suggest you vote for Tulsi Gabbard in 2028 instead. She’s the one with isolationist tendencies and it shows in her most recent view of Iran. Unfortunately for her, Trump is ignoring her.
Lyin’ Ted, Donald Trump sure pegged him right didn’t he?
Tucker Carlson started to believe he was the leader of MAGA and got too full of himself and went off the Rez.

“His naughty behavior in that dismal video with Steve Bannon has resulted in him being excoriated on social media this week to the point that he had to phone President Trump and apologize.
Tucker’s credibility has taken a big hit.
I believe he was so angry at being rejected by the MAGA folks he just decided to showcase his superiority by beating up on Ted Cruz. That also backfired as he just came off looming lime a petty, mean spirited troll.”
Thank you. Appreciate your comment.
Yep...El Rushbo would straighten Tucker’s lil act, fast.
I unfollowed him on IG. Guy has really been going over the edge. Pompous A$$.
Hush, troll
Ted Cruz didn't do his "homework" regarding Iran. Tucker Carlson caught him. As simple as that.
👍
First you make up stories about yourself and you’re stealing my material? What the hell is wrong with you?
Hush, Captain Underpants.
Period
Hush, windbag
I bet you’re even fatter than that guy!
