More trouble for Queens Defenders legal aide group, as lawyer busted for smuggling THC to Rikers inmate

There’s more trouble brewing for an embattled Queens public defender office, as a lawyer there was busted for passing drugs to an incarcerated client just days after group’s founder was charged with fraud.

One of the staff lawyers at Queens Defenders was arrested for allegedly attempting to sneak more than 130 pages of paper laced with THC to an inmate during a scheduled attorney visit at Rikers Island.

Bernardo Caceres was charged with promoting prison contraband, a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison in New York.

During a visit to inmate Luis DeJesus Wednesday afternoon – who’s jailed on charges of second-degree burglary – a K-9 dog smelled something fishy inside a yellow envelope Caceres had brought with him.

When a corrections offer opened it, he discovered multiple discolored legal sized papers, which were seized by the Correctional Intelligence Bureau and tested positive for THC.

How dare they deprive the inmates of their constitutional rights to THC. Plus, arresting the attorney is a violation of his First Amendment rights! /s

Outside of maybe my moma, I’m not taking nothing into a jail for no one, no way how. And I’m pretty sure Mom’s not going to be locked up.

This so stupid. I’m wondering what the inmate had on the attorney to make him try it.

Fold each page until it’s all sharp edges.

Then ram it up his backside.

to sneak more than 130 pages of paper laced with THC to an inmate

There have been a couple of lawyers on FR who are good people who communicated with me on posts so I don't want to believe that 95% of defense lawyers are unscrupulous and harming the public good.

Is this like the 1960s sugar cubes and postage stamps and other items laced with LSD?

I hadn’t heard of this before.

Would THC on paper get sent to innocent victims, too?

About cocaine on thousands of currency bills:

Results demonstrated that “92% of the bills were positive for cocaine with a mean amount of 28.75 ± 139.07 micrograms per bill, a median of 1.37 μg per bill, and a range of 0.01-922.72 μg per bill.”

I’ve only recently heard of it and the previous times were also in cases where someone was smuggling drugs into a prison. Somehow they get it soaked into paper. I’m not sure how the prisoners get it from the paper. Smoke it maybe?

Let’s just say I hope I am wrong about suggesting combining it with Preparation H as the answer.
