Iran's Quds Force chief Esmail Qaani killed by Israel, NYT reports
Jerusalem Post ^ | 06/13/2025 | STAFF

Posted on 06/13/2025 12:11:01 PM PDT by DFG

Esmail Qaani, commander of the Quds Force in the Islamic Revolutionary Guards, was killed during an Israeli strike in Iran, The New York Times reported on Friday evening, citing an Iranian source.

Qaani succeeded Qasem Soleimani as commander after the latter was killed in a targeted operation by the United States in 2020.

What was Qaani's mission in the Middle East?

From an intelligence perspective, Qaani's mission appears to have had several dimensions, none of which have escaped the vigilance of Mossad, the CIA, or allied intelligence agencies in the region.

Qaani also wanted to revive and consolidate control of Iraq's Shia terrorist groups. These militias, whether Arab, Sunni, or Kurdish (including the Barzanis and PKK), maintain close ties with the IRGC. Qaani aimed to exert more direct influence over groups like Hashd al-Shaabi, preventing the collapse of Iran's proxy network in Iraq. Figures like Ali Sistani, who shared Khamenei's vision of a Shia crescent, are unlikely to oppose these efforts.

This is a developing story.

What a shame.

More importantly - Patrick Reed scored an albatross on the 621-yard fourth hole at the US Open

So, who’s left?

Looks like the mullah’s family is fleeing somewhere.

I wouldn’t be surprised is a coup occurs.

Second shot into the hole on par 5 is most exciting shot and very rare shot in golf. Patrick Reed is only the 4th player to accomplish this feat in US open history.

The first albatross in Master’s was made by Gene Sarazen in 1935. His shot on the par-5 15th hole is known as the “shot heard ’round the world.” Sarazen’s albatross helped him win the tournament, and it is still remembered as one of the greatest shots in Masters history.

So, who’s left?

Still a handful of the top dogs. I’m betting they’re really nervous about now.

“Albatross” is a “triple eagle”.

Is there a name for a “quadruple eagle”?

Netanyahu acted fast and decisively against his country’s main foreign enemy. Tomorrow, our country faces hundreds of “demonstrations” that could be the precursor for an insurrection. Trump should act as decisively against the enemy within as Netanyahu against the enemy without.

Four below par is a condor (notice that each bird reference grows, from birdie to eagle to albatross to condor)

Sorry to correct you Jim, but, For those unfamiliar with golf, an albatross is a score of three under par on a single hole. It is also known as a double eagle. To put that in simpler terms, it means that a golfer has hit the ball into the hole in two shots on a par-5 hole. This is an incredibly rare feat, and it has only been accomplished a few times at the Masters.

On a par-5 hole, hit the ball into the hole in

four shots = birdie
three shots = eagle
two shots = albatross or double eagle
one shot = condor

OK. Why not just stick to “double eagle” for three under par and four under par would be albatross. I mean “condor”? Whatever.

I guess the word Eagle is already used up for 2 under par.
So a fancy word Albatross for 3 under par.
I had a couple of eagles and 1 hole in one.
