Trump signed measures today revoking waivers for the state’s mandates that clean up car and truck exhaust and ramp up sales of electric vehicles. California and 10 other states immediately sued and the governor ordered the air board to craft a new mandate.

Who granted the waivers in the first place?
We will tell you what car to buy and you will like it.
Let them set up their new mandates. Nice that they can go without federal highway funding.
Even nicer that we don't have to pay for it.
Then they can make their own stupid laws.
Nowhere to charge EVs with a collapsing “green” grid.
And soon nowhere to drive them with collapsing infrastructure.
That’s been the plan all along.
The federal government has already enacted environmental and emissions regulations. An EV mandate and anything more stringent is a violation of the 10th amendment and even the 1st for those of us who love our gas powered vehicles and the sounds they make.
If any Californian is wondering why there is no money to rebuild after the wildfires and riots, take comfort in knowing that the money is being put to good use suing Trump.
STOP with your effing mandates!
California and 10 other states immediately sued...
Mandates for sales of electric vehicles only comrades.
Fascist indeed
As much as I think those governing California are stupid and crazy and as much as I think the emissions and EV mandates are dumb, by principle I am compelled to agree with Newscum on this one. I am first and foremost a constitutional conservative. As such, I have read and understand the constitution. We really should try using it more often. It contains an amendment, the Tenth, that says that powers not specifically granted to the US government and not specifically denied to the states are to be reserved to the states or to the people.
The matter at hand is vehicle emission regulation. The Constitution certainly does not grant the federal government the power to regulate vehicle emissions, what type of engines those vehicles have, or really anything else about vehicles. It also does not say that states cannot do so. Therefore the power to regulate vehicles and their emissions properly belongs to the states. As a matter of principle there should not be any federal regulations in the first place that would require a waiver in order for states to implement their own.
If CA wants to be stupid, they should be allowed to be stupid. People who don’t want to live under their stupidity will increase the net migration of population away from the state
California’s (and 10 allied states and DC’s) laws were not crafted and put in place to be isolated. You should be able to foresee that they’re trying to knudge and twist the arms of car manufacturers. You should also foresee that in states without these mandates, Democrat/RINO majorities in state legislatures could also impose these standards. It’s not like a state’s electorate voted on a referendum to do force people to buy these EV cars.
You are viewing this from the “closed universe” of California. Did you not hear Trump’s statements in regarding
It would cost trillions to adjust, adapt, and rectify the impact of the increased tonnage of just the 18-wheelers destruction upon our national roads, highways, and bridges? Please delineate why this 10th Amendment issue is not one of individual rights rather than states’ rights.

Fine as far as that goes but it ignores the fact that if CA is allowed to do this, then auto makers will be forced to make a decision. They can make two types of cars. One for CA. And one for other than CA. The automakers will choose to make one type of car that fits both CA and other than CA. IOW, regardless of where you live, you will be forced to be as stupid as CA.
And Curly pulls out a bigger pencil!
Then the people opposed to these mandates need to elect officials who will remove them. The federal government does not have the authority constitutionally to impose ANY regulations on vehicles. That authority is granted by the constitution to the states. I’m well aware that these mandates would cause harm, but the elected representatives of the citizens of California and several other states have voted for them. The citizens of those states voted for those representatives. Let them implement them and see what chaos ensues. It will not be long until those representatives repeal the mandates or stop enforcing them. Alternatively, if that does not happen, it won’t be long until the citizens vote for new representatives who will do so.
Being a conservative used to be about following the constitution and using it to limit the power of government. This is true even if it means that we get some stupid policy in the short run. I’m not compromising my principles just because those principles lead to an undesirable short term result.
If there is a demand, car makers will fill it. Or smaller companies that don’t currently exist will start up and fill it. The free market works; don’t sell it short.
CA citizens are mostly sheep
