Allies won't impose new sanctions on Russia because of Ukraine's refusal to mobilize at age 18, Zelensky says

Ukraine's Western allies are not imposing new sanctions on Russia in part because of Kyiv's refusal to lower the mobilization age to 18, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Valasz Online published on June 10.

With the start of thefull-scale invasion, Ukraine updated its mobilization legislation and lowered the minimum age for compulsory military service from 27 to 25.

Yet, some partners, includingthe U.S., still criticize Kyiv for setting the age threshold too high.

"I do not believe that we should mobilize people from the age of 18, as the leaders of other countries have thought,"Zelensky said.

"However, when it comes to sanctions, as Western partners list the reasons why they did not decide to impose them, they include that Ukraine did not mobilize people aged 18 and above," he added.

Zelensky said that it is not so much the number of people as the "weapons and technology" that are important, as proved by the recentOperation Spiderweb, during which Ukraine reportedly hit 41 Russian military aircraft with first-person-view (FPV) drones hidden in trucks in Russia.

He added that "money and exerting pressure" were also crucial for forcing Russia to end its war.

"The sanctions would target the money that the Russians are using to finance the war," Zelensky said. Personnel shortages have dogged Ukraine throughout its fight against Russia. Although Ukraine adopted amajor bill reforming the draft in April, mobilization slowed down in autumn, leaving front-line units depleted.

Russian forces significantly outnumber Ukrainian units and have been able toadvance at record rates in eastern Ukraine while absorbing heavy losses.

During World War II, the draft age in our country was initially set at 21 to 35 years old, but it was later changed to include men aged 18 to 37 as the war progressed.

During Vietnam, the draft age was typically between 18 and 26 years old.

Aren't Ukrainians interested in fighting for the sovereignty of their country?

Oh the irony! Zelensky has been conscripting disabled elderly men, young boys in their teens, and even the mentally handicapped. He just never admits to it.

Wealthy youths party in Kiev nightclubs because you just pay to play - and your payment ensures you won’t be conscripted. There’s so much lying, fraud, graft and grift in the Ukraine its almost funny that Zelensky’s lies have painted him into a corner. It would be funny if people weren’t dying.

>>>>It would be funny if people weren’t dying.<<<<

That’s the tragic part.

Isn’t it strange that President Trump cares more about the people of Ukraine than their “leader”?

In 2021, Ukraine began "requiring women between 18 and 60 who are "fit for military service" and work in a broad range of professions to register with Ukraine's armed forces. In the event of a major war, this expanded reserve of women can be mobilized as part of the national reserve to serve in a broad range of military specialties."

Ukraine Requires Women to Register for Military Conscription as Russia Threat Looms

Ukraine female military members have been activated for duty since 2022.

Zelensky's oldest daughter Aleksandra was born July 15, 2004. That means she'll be 21 next month. Since she's 20, has she registered with the military yet? His son Kiril was born on January 21, 2013. He's 12 years old.

I think what their interested in is being able to repopulate the country after the war. They have a significant birth rate issue.

Trump has ordered Zelinski be replaced or removed if he doesn’t leave. If he lives it will be in Israel. Now that is a sickening thought that he would turn around Tel Aviv like the guy from Kuzcos Oil 25 years ago - Israel if they take him are gradually burning what good will Russia has maintianed towards them as they pursue what they see as becoming the dominate power in the Mid East over the Arabs.

One thing Ukraine could do is mandatory military training for males 18-60.

By keeping the bulk of those educated after the Coup and getting rid of those who might not hate Russia enough... it almost seems as Ukraine was a useful tool/idiot herded into this war with Russia when the west had him deep-6 the Istanbul agreement 6 weeks into the conflict. Britian/Biden figured they had Russia on the hook and on the ropes with a Ukrainian AFU over twice the size, trained and equiped, of Russia’s entire military worldwide. It was a great gamble for the west - a vast trained manpower pool that might lead to dumping Putin and divvying up Russian resources. Russia weathered NATOs best shot, held the line, trained a military by the end of 2024 that equaled Ukraine’s and has outlasted western equipment advantages.

The Ukrainians aren’t fighting for Ukraine; they always had that without any doubt, until this last round of talks and the Zelinski Berlin to the last soldier BS.

Ukrainians are held hostage in a war they have essentially already lost, and they are getting killed at an increasingly alarming rate compared to Russians. When the dust settles and they have to come clear on the death counts, Zelinski is probably hoping Russia has killed the last Ukrainian because they will kill him when they find out they’ve lost an average of half million soldiers KIA per year to this point. If this goes to 2026 as Russian MOD planned, there will be 2.2m Russian Soldiers and none left for Ukraine as they finish off Azov and the Bandaras ideology.

No saine Ukrainian wants to any part of the front right now. Russia now has an 8th separate combat manuever group appearing this past week. They have 200k held back, and 200k retained and not to be engaged; 1.5m Russian soldiers now exist comapred to a half million at the beginning of the conflict. Russia intakes 20,000 conscripts who do not go to Ukraine because they are YOUTHs as are Ukraine’s YOUTHs; They also contract 30k a month, sometimes more. Their armed forces is growing month over month as every volunteering is in down for 5 years active duty. Usually every six months Russia adds about 300k since the middle of 2022. The numbers add up based on their reported strength, and account for about 165k KIA.
