Here’s a breakdown of happenings, for the Fourth ... sorry about the source (WaComPost) but it’s the best breakdown I could find, on short notice :-) Ignore the CNN mention, also 🤣
The Fourth of July is one of the busiest days of the year in Washington, with events on and around the National Mall running for more than 12 hours. Here’s how to live Independence Day to the fullest.
9 a.m.: The party starts at the National Archives, where Constitution Avenue NW is closed between Seventh and Ninth streets. Quantico Marine Band and the Crossroads Brass Band perform on the outdoor stage.
10 a.m.: A ceremony with speakers and a performance of Revolutionary War music by the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps leads into a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence, with actors portraying Thomas Jefferson, John and Abigail Adams, John Hancock, and other historic figures. (Feel free to boo King George III when they list the “repeated injuries and usurpations” against the colonies.)
11 a.m.: Family events take over the Archives, where kids can participate in scavenger hunts, put their own John Hancock on a copy of the declaration and make crafts. The Archives museum is also open if you want to see the original document. See archivesjuly4.org for a full schedule of the morning’s events.
11:45 a.m.: The National Independence Day Parade begins at Seventh Street and Constitution Avenue. Conveniently, if you’re at the Archives, you don’t have to move and might even have a seat on the building steps. The parade features giant balloons, floats, marching bands from across the country, military units, equestrian teams and dance groups, and takes about two hours for all groups to cross the finish line at 17th and Constitution. No tickets are required, but seating is limited.
After the parade: It’s time for lunch. In a recent review of museum cafes, Post restaurant critic Tom Sietsema suggested heading for Mitsitam Native Foods Cafe at the National Museum of the American Indian, where dishes like Peruvian chicken and bison chili make for “one of the most restorative meal breaks on the Mall.”
After fueling up: The Smithsonian Folklife Festival fills the Mall between Seventh and 12th streets, with some events taking place inside the Arts and Industries Building. This year’s theme is “Youth and the Future of Culture,” and the July Fourth schedule includes readings by national youth poet laureates; ceramics workshops for teens; screenings of short films from the Montgomery County Youth Media Festival; talks about lowrider culture or building a future in the music business; and an evening performance by Americana groups from Hawaii, Southern California and Vermont. The festival is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A full schedule is available at festival.si.edu, and our advice is to make a plan: Some activities have limited capacity.
1 p.m.: Kids 10 and older can earn a Fourth of July Junior Ranger Badge while participating in “Operation Independence,” a family-friendly scavenger hunt around the Washington Monument grounds that teaches about spy techniques used during the Revolutionary War. Pick up a booklet at the Sylvan Theater before 8 p.m.
3 p.m.: Gates open for “A Capitol Fourth,” the concert held on the U.S. Capitol’s West Front. The music doesn’t begin until 8 p.m., but you’ll want to leave plenty of time to enter and find a spot to spread your blanket, as lines can be long and all visitors and their bags and coolers have to go through security screening. As a reminder, food and low beach chairs are allowed, but alcohol and glass bottles are not. Also, there is a dress rehearsal for the concert on July 3 that is open to the public and begins at the same time. More information is available at pbs.org/a-capitol-fourth.
5:30 p.m.: CNN’s “The Fourth in America” features broadcasts of musical performances from cities across the country, including Washington. Freedom Plaza is the site of performances by the War and Treaty and the U.S. Air Force Band, though the exact times aren’t confirmed.
8 p.m.: The “Capitol Fourth” concert begins. This year’s performers include the National Symphony Orchestra, Choral Arts, and military units such as the U.S. Army Band and the U.S. Army Chorus, as well as guest stars. Expect a mix of patriotic tunes, classical crowd-pleasers like the “1812” Overture and familiar pop hits. The music keeps playing through the fireworks.
9:09 p.m.: Fireworks are launched from the sides of the Reflecting Pool, between the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument, and continue for more than 17 minutes. The National Park Service closes the area around the Reflecting Pool, with other locations, such as the area around the World War II Memorial and the D.C. War Memorial, closing at different times throughout the day. (A map of closed and restricted areas is on the Park Service’s website.) The public has to go through security screening to access some popular viewing points, including the Washington Monument grounds and the Lincoln Memorial, while watching from the Mall near the Smithsonian is unrestricted. What’s the best viewing location? We wish we could give you a concrete answer, but how well you’ll be able to see the fireworks depends on a number of factors, including humidity and the direction of the wind. Some years, people viewing from Arlington or the Wharf have better views than those on the Mall.
9:30 p.m.: The fireworks are finished. If you’re taking the Metro home, try to use any station other than Smithsonian, which can be temporarily closed if (and when) the platforms become overcrowded. If possible, walk to stations like L’Enfant Plaza, Federal Triangle, Federal Center SW or Archives-Navy Memorial and get your train there.

Living in Florida is awesome. Not only do we have a great government which enforces the law and takes care of everyone in events such as hurricanes, but it is just a beautiful place to live. I’ve already been walking for an hour today. Soon I will be going for a gentle swim. Later today, I will go to church.
Never thought I’d say this, but winter is now my favorite time of year. Its all due to Florida weather!! And the shelling is the best in winter!!. 😃😃💓

Body language of many of the enemy media is so aggressive and hostile. They could learn from people like Nancy Pelosi, who seem to have learned to stop pointing. Watch them squeeze their fingers together, aiming them at themselves. I believe they have been trained to stop the aggressive finger pointing.
The Idea of a stabbing finger pointing motion while I am asking a question or having a discussion with someone would never enter my mind. It is very hostile.
