Make it retroactive. Or more precisely, establish the same statute of limitations that exists for forcible rape.
Go after the creators and put them in jail. And go after the platforms that facilitate this. Want to put a couple of torpedos into Big Tech below the waterline? Hit the tech companies with massive damages.
The feds only authorization and delegation to regulate and legislate and law is the Constitution. If it’s not authorized and delegated to the feds by the Constitution, it is a State’s (local) issue.
From what I can tell, sexual abuse is not a federal issue, it is a state’s issue. It appears this law is unconstitutional.
Remember, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Try again...

How come this is called a law? Congress passes laws and the president signs them. Doesn't anyone pay attention to the Constitution anymore?
I agree and this seems to be nothing more than a sop to celebrities.
No one is being actually raped in digital photos.
There are no state borders to the Internet. It cannot be well regulated state by state. That’s a fact beyond the philosophy of federalism and “public safety” being, generally, a local and state issue.
The left is already saying this is a bad law - a right-wing trick
Screw them. Trump (and Congress) did the right thing.
Sexual abuse that crosses state lines is Federal Jurisdiction. Interstate Commerce clause.
I would think Libel laws would already cover this sort of thing
OK, I think I can buy that.
Just watch the feds VERY CLOSELY.
What is your specific complaint?
An act of Congress becomes law when signed by the President. Why do you question whether people are paying attention to the Constitution? What is the problem you see here?
????????? deepfake?????
I don’t think the ICC comes into play, but interstate crime does seem to go into the purview of the Constitution, so I think I can buy that.

When it crosses state borders, it becomes a federal issue.
OK, I think I can buy that.

I have no problem with the moral concept behind this. The problem is the Precedent it sets. It will set Precedent and that brings up the question about what will be next down the road? Images of Jesus and the Cross because they too are considered offensive by some?
“It will never happen!”
Oh yes it will... Just as soon as the Dems can get control and do it.
Wouldn’t that be an ex post facto law and unconstitutional?
As long as images of Jesus and the Cross are not a crime, we’re OK.
That day will come, but I think we’ll be in Heaven with Jesus when that Day of Vengeance comes.
Libel laws are pretty restricted in the U.S.
