At least the cop got home safe that night.

Imagine what would have happened if there was a golden retriever in the car

Many today need shooting as they put the Police at risk as most are drugged out, crazy, naturally violent and angry, etc. Fact is they are doing society a favor.

Hey man, you owe some tolls? Do not attempt to drive off or the popo could jump on your car and kill you because of your toll debt.

Pay your tolls or you could have your head blown off by a constable or po po.

I've been pulled over twice in my entire life (I'm old enough to recall 3 channels on the TV).On neither occasion did I get a ticket (only a warning) and on neither occasion did I drive off before being "dismissed" by the cop.

If I'm ever pulled over without justification I'll follow every one of the cop's commands and then sue when the dust has settled.

I recently got an LTC and in Massachusetts that fact is listed on your license plate's profile. So next time I'm pulled over the cop will approach my car with heightened anxiety. But I will make it clear to him at the start that I will obey all of his commands...so he doesn't panic and shoot me.

Don’t be a cop. Good luck folks.

Every working cop continues bad law, bad rules, bad public behavior.

El Salvador has good public behavior, now.

“Most likely Barnes would still be alive if he hadn’t attempted to flee.”

TOTAL asinine ‘reasoning’ akin to “If you don’t have anything to hide you won’t mind if I search.”

It was a rental car. He didn’t owe any tolls.

Do plates not show a car is a rental? Because that would be stupid. Stopping rental cars for tolls is stupid. Just send the bills to the registered owner (the rental company).

Traffic stops for tolls are unnecessary. Bill the registered owner and suspend their license if they don’t pay up.

Head up A.

There was NO threat to Officer Felix prior to his “stepped onto the car with his weapon drawn...” and within two seconds executed Barnes.

Not particularly.

Why he fled is not relevant to his death.

In case you’re wondering, from the limited facts presented, I don’t think his fleeing should have led to his death. But that doesn’t mean much to Barnes.

exactly the same stupid non reasoning: If you get face down the police state won’t kill you.

Good for you regarding your LTC. Thank God they know you might be armed. They will now ever know that about me, wherever I go.

The cop put himself in harms way. He could’ve just got into his patrol vehicle and given pursuit, called for backup, call for the tire punching sticks etc. Jumping onto the car was probably one of the worst decisions given the circumstance.

And yeah the driver was stupid too. All over a silly misunderstanding and then made a bad decision to flee. By all accounts there was no reason for him to flee at all. No drugs, no weapons, just some tickets that the rental car company should have cleared up.

Rental car companies are getting bad too. They report cars as stolen if they are a day late. Then they get the cars back and don’t retract the ticket. The city knows the car is a rental when they issue the ticket, and should likewise know that the driver may not be the person who was ticketed.

^^ Edit - rental car companies don’t retract the stolen vehicle complaint.

Sounds proper to me. Do what you are told when contacted, it is the only safe way out for all involved.

"Yes I do remember, it was an insane usage of deadly force."

I agree. They fired into the car without even knowing there was a child in the back.
