American Manufacturers Overwhelmed With Orders After Trump’s Tariff Crackdown On China
Daily Caller ^ | Floyd Buford

Posted on 05/06/2025 7:17:25 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

American manufacturers are seeing a surge in demand as President Donald Trump’s tariffs force companies to reconsider doing business in China.

...

Jergens Inc., a midwestern toolmaker with less than 500 employees, says it’s “going like gangbusters” trying to keep up with demand, The Wall Street Journal reported. They are seeing an influx of orders from customers trying to avoid import tariffs, along with steady defense-related demand.

“We are running 24 hours a day, seven days a week” said Jergens president Jack Schron, according to the Journal. “We are swamped.”

...

The spike in new business reported by many American manufacturers coincides with a sharp decrease in Chinese manufacturing. When Trump announced the tariffs last month, he predicted American businesses and consumers would both benefit.

“Jobs and factories will come roaring back into our country, and you see it happening already. We will supercharge our domestic industrial base,” Trump has said. “We will pry open foreign markets and break down foreign trade barriers. And ultimately, more production at home will mean stronger competition and lower prices for consumers.”

Even as the president insists prices will fall, economists and politicians warn his tariffs could sharply raise costs for American consumers, CNBC reported. However, executives at SafeSource Direct, a Louisiana-based medical products manufacturer, say prices are likely to decline as domestic production ramps up, according to the Journal.

I picked out the basic navy blue hat in size 7 1/2 made by New Era. Official MLB team apparel hat. Same one the players wear. Made in China for $60.

You of all people, put the hat down and buy a bat.

It went along with the $29 Smash burger with fries in the Aura restaurant and the $16 beer. The tickets and parking were free. My son in law had his bosses/companies tickets.

My college roomate was from Norwood MA and he used to work Summers in the stands at Fenway. Burger and Beer was probably under $5 then.

Why you’d almost think that this is what Trump wanted to happen.

"The problem is that the tariffs need to be made permanent to attract the investment needed to increase capacity and to incentivize foreign manufacturers to in-shore."

Also a critical component to increase hiring. Companies are going to postpone hiring as long as possible until they're certain the tariffs aren't going to disappear suddenly and set the market back to what it was. It costs too much to hire and train an employee only to have to lay them off before the company can utilize them fully.

To be honest, us Americans should have quit buying from China all along.

Buying American should never be a sacrifice for citizens... China's been keeping our goods out for decades and using sweat shop labor.. Thump's demanding fairness - tariffs are a negotiation tool. We're going to make this right.

China is our enemy and competitor. We shouldn’t be trading with them anyway. We have paid for the build up of their military.

If you are willing to pay $60 for a China-made hat just because it is “official MLB” you hare part of the problem.

$12 for a Coors or Bud Lite Can now

$16 for Sam Adams

I think that some of those ushers have been working there for sixty+ years.
They NEVER give that job up. I think some get passed down to children.

Fenway still only seats about 34K. It was not even close to full Saturday. Probably because of the weather forecast.
It was beautiful to start then the rain came through at he top of the 7th. We went inside the Aura restaurant on the upper deck and hung out there through the 45 minute delay.
When they started back up, we sat in the front row of the balcony right behind home plate. It was maybe half full by then.

The Sox came back and made it close but lost 4-3 to the Twins. We did get to see Cody Clemons(Roger’s Son) hit a home run. Which won them the game.

That's just stupid.

Are you now going to vote for the communist baby killers, or have you been all along?

Look at the labels on ALL your clothing. From your under ware, socks, jeans, shirts, etc.
Show me ONE piece of clothing YOU own purchased in the last twenty years that is not made in a foreign country.

Unless those labels say Armani of other very expensive designers they are ALL made in foreign countries.
So, let me know when YOU check the labels and find one MADE IN THE USA.

these worthless republicans

Yes: the only thing they seem anxious to vote for is more out of control spending. It's like "last call" at the First Class bar on the fiscal Titanic as far as they are concerned.

Oh No!
They’ll have to raise wages and higher more people to meet demand.

That also means Soros is also going to have to pay more for his demonstrators.

Why did it take a President Trump and Musk to finally uncover the hundreds of billions of $ stolen from the American taxpayer when Congress has had oversight and budget control responsibility since 1789?

Had Harris stolen the White House the attitude of our Uniparty Congress would have been “steady as she goes” as the Deep State continued to bankrupt our nation and enrich themselves.

The depth of my hatred for Congress knows no limit.

I haven’t voted for my uniparty R congressman since 2016.

Anyone who thinks we live in a representative republic is ignorant.

Dubya Bush did it; 11 December 2001.:

https://checkyourfact.com/2017/09/11/fact-check-did-bush-support-china-joining-the-world-trade-organization/

China gained admission to the WTO in 2001, a move that more fully integrated the country into the world economy. To become a member, China committed to reducing agricultural and industrial tariffs and abide by rules-based trade with other WTO members.

The Bush administration supported membership for China, arguing it would push the country towards liberal reforms and benefit the U.S. economy. “For businesses and workers and farmers it will mean lower trade barriers and important opportunities for U.S. exports and more work and jobs for United States workers,” Bush said in a speech around that time. ”For the people of China it holds out the hope of more open contact with the world of freedom.”
