Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a prominent populist congresswoman and Trump-ally, voiced concerns in a long Friday post on X about the state of the Trump administration, criticizing the current position of the administration on Iran, Ukraine, as well as a host of domestic issues.
“I campaigned for no more foreign wars,” Greene wrote. “And now we are supposedly on the verge of going to war with Iran.”
Greene was also highly critical of the so-called “Minerals Deal” between the U.S. and Ukraine, opining:
And on top of that, now we are told that we have signed a deal for mineral rights in Ukraine, in order to pay us back for the hundreds of billions of dollars that we gave Ukraine and they used for money laundering, sold the weapons we gave them to our enemies, and their leader is a dictator who canceled elections, was involved of the first impeachment of Trump, and campaigned for Biden.
Didn’t we learn our lesson when we went to war in Iraq and killed Saddam Hussein because of “weapons of mass destruction?”
Did we ever find any? And did any of that oil over in the Middle East make us rich? The answer is no, we are $36 trillion in debt today.
So why on earth would we go over and occupy Ukraine and spend an untold amount of future American taxpayer dollars defending and mining their minerals as well as potentially putting American lives at risk and future war?
Why don’t we just mine our own rare earth minerals that are tied up on federal lands that the government confiscated years ago?
In her statement, Greene also criticized the failure of Republicans to prevent transgender surgeries being done on minors and to strengthen election integrity.
That's a laugh.
Number 1, do you really trust Zelensky to ship anything?
Secondly, The minerals we want are under Russian occupation.
Per AI
Despite Ukraine’s legal control, Russia occupies a substantial portion of Ukraine’s mineral-rich territories. As of late April 2025, Russian forces control about 19% of Ukraine’s territory (roughly 44,000 square miles), including Crimea, parts of Donbas, and areas seized since February 2022. This includes regions with significant coal, rare earths, and other critical mineral deposits. Estimates suggest that mineral resources worth $350 billion are currently in Russian-occupied territories. For example, Russia controls about 63% of Ukraine’s coal mines and large portions of its rare earth, tantalum, and other strategic mineral reserves.
What base is she talking about? I’m psyched out of my gourd that Trump is potus! Every day he does something better than the day before. All designed to MAGA. So shut the pie hole woman!
There are other ways to make a complaint or point something out than throw dirt Trump’s way. She has no class.
Trump likes to rattle people as part of his negotiating style.
Unfortunately for Trump and us, nation states have more highly resilient people in their employment than NYC banks and real estate vendors.
Trump’s effort to get some income from our ‘investment’ in Ukrainian defense is a good move, if it only get 2% of our ‘investment’ back.
However, MTG is right about having domestic rare earth production.
I think Trump’s threats toward Iran will backfire. Only Iran can fix itself.
Trump needs to ask Congress for help. He should only extend tax cuts on a year-to-year basis (and debt limit increases on about a quarterly basis) and only after getting what he needs do the job he was elected to do. Trump needs the ability to muscle a uniparty Congress by maximizing his veto power.
Members of Congress would have answer for failure to extend tax cuts and we all know what cowardly people they are. Trump on the other hand will never again run for office.
If the corporate tax rates go back up, New York State (and California) capital gains tax revenue might fall by half. Schumer interacts with Wall Street types when he is back in NY.
Dirt? Her post is more respectful to Trump than Trump often is to others.
I like most of what Trump does, but "class" is not one of his strong points. Indeed, he's famous for his insults, take downs, and trolling. And people cheer him for it.
Trump can dish it out. So I assume he can take a little mild criticism from MTG.
“The most profitable path for America is to recognize all of the areas east and south of the river, including Crimea, as Russian and make a deal with Russia for 50% of the rights to all natural resources in those areas in perpetuity.”
What Ukraine can claim for good cause is not ours to dispose of.
That said, Russian rearmament and retraining are have substantial success even if it is at great cost to Russian mothers and families.
“Iran has been at war with the United States for nearly 50 years.
And WE threw the first blow by meddling in their sovereign National affairs without good reason. Before that they were embracing western values and wearing Miniskirts. Truth is stranger than fiction.
Re: 26 - thanks for the post.
I believe President Trump has very little leverage against Russia. The whole “
I could end the war in 24 hours” was schtick that ignorant people glommed onto.
The war will end when Russia wants it to end seems to be the reality of the situation.
In principle, I agree. The problem is the Europe of today is not capable of playing that role. Not only have they allowed their military capabilities to atrophy, their political center of gravity is such that having them take the lead would make the situation more dangerous for themselves and the rest of the world.
The European powers of today largely support an escalation of the conflict, not a de-escalation. It’s only with President Trump’s leadership that de-escalation is a possibility. Fortunately Trump’s foreign policy approach is different from that of past administrations. Instead of throwing an endless supply of American tax dollars at the problem, he embraces a smarter use of power, and a more frugal one at that.
Trump has truly revolutionized the use of American power, embracing a more efficient approach that uses a combination of focused economic and military power which is both more effective and less costly. The occasional military engagement may be necessary, but only if it’s well focused and has a well defined mission with a high likelihood of success and minimal risk.
Also, Russia knows that nobody can just waltz in and invade and occupy the country.
Japan and Germany both had less land area than several Texas counties put together.
Russia is 11 time zones, and they could just simply retreat beyond the Urals if they have to. And of course, not to mention the nukes.
And as far as economic sanctions, well as was said in “Dr. Zhivago”, the Russians have a ‘cursed capacity for suffering’.
So like it or not, you’re going to have to deal with them.
She needs to spend her time worrying more about Congress not stepping up to the plate and helping with all of this hard work. People need to stop judging Trump by the early stages of negotiations. They really need to stay the hell out of the way and let Trump do what he does. It is damaging to jump in the middle when they really have no idea what the end game is. How about MTG gets to work codifying some of the great Executive orders that have been made? How about some legislation that protects voting? There is plenty for everyone to do without stepping on each others toes. How about some judicial impeachments MTG? Or at least some new laws to reign in the petty tyrants.
You make too much sense.
Trump has plenty of leverage that he can bring to bear against Russia. Russia does not have an infinite capacity to continue such a costly war. The price of oil has dropped 20% since he took office. Russia is highly dependent on income from oil exports and while the market price is dropping one of their major buyers, China, is in the midst of an economic contraction, thanks to Trump’s tariff policy.
So, no. Trump has plenty of leverage he can bring to bear against The Bear. It may take more than 24 hours for it to reach criticality, but we all understood that.
After that, we can divvy up the Arctic.
Europe is a continent in a constant state of war. Better for us to stay out of it.
Thomas Jefferson.
Europe was at war with itself before the birth of Christ.
Europe will be at war with itself when our great grandchildren are old and gray.
Better for us to stay out of it.
Re: 33 - I’m not sure what. More sanctions? Curious to know what will have a meaningful effect.
PRC was in the midst of a real estate induced economic contraction prior to the tariffs. The tariffs definitely having an affect as you point out.
Such a drama queen - she needs to zip
It
I tend to NOT jump off a cliff when there’s a disagreement between a congresscritter and the president. I leave that critical work to the mincemeat choppers at the holy church of pearl clutching.
And don't forget our foolishness to start a war with China too, Margie.
.
The Chinese American guest will be a smash hit on FR! The pic is hot linked.
