The mask-wearing thief who stole Homeland Security Kristi Noem’s Gucci bag containing $3,000 in cash has been arrested, sources told The Post Saturday.
Noem, 53, was on an Easter outing at a district burger restaurant with her family when someone stole the luxury bag, which also contained her driver’s license, passport, DHS badge and apartment keys on April 20.
The suspect’s identity was not immediately available, but is expected to appear in court early next week.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

Who is his FBI handler?
I’d like to know who had the nerve to steal from such a high profile victim.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Somebody that illegally migrated in from a foreign country whi had no idea who she was?
Yep. True that.
Women need to be more careful guarding their possessions. My wife carries her wallet containing ID, cards and cash in her pocket, not in her purse. If the purse gets stolen, no big deal. She’s admonished friends for carrying everything in their purse and setting it down in shopping carts or chairs (and some got stolen). As for me, house keys and car keys are on a lanyard connected inside my pocket. Pickpockets won’t get them without my notice. I have a tracker in my wallet, as well in each of my vehicles. Wake up people, thieves are everywhere.
We do a similar set of exercises at our “back class…” although at 71 I don’t do everything, I concentrate on :30 or cardio each session, and weight training. I do love the Gravitron! 30 pull ups (32 lbs resistance) and 30 bar dips.
I willl never stop.
Good for her!
That’s a real possibility.
Or, ominously, “somebody that illegally migrated in from a foreign country” who knew precisely who she was
I often think of how healthy and strong I could have been if I had done that kind of stuff on a regular basis.
Now when I think about heavy exercise routines I sit down a minute, start to relax and feel comfortable and the feeling passes.
True story. I had rheumatic fever in the 2nd grade with lasting heart murmur problems into my 20s. Never took one gym class or was in one sport in any school year. Failed my enlistment physical for the Army in 1968. Asked my MD about trying again and he said he was a Marine and if I somehow got into the Army I would be dead in basic training. In my next years after that I got gradually better and the murmur and heart trouble were gone. Wish I had been athletic before that but there was no chance.
I admire you. I will be 79 next month —if I am still alive.
I say that because one morning my wife was alive and a few minutes later she was dead. Happens.
Daily walking is my determined and usually reached goal for many years now. Once I actually used the exercycle at home every night (over 15 years with about 1% days missed) but now it’s back to being the “clothes rack” as everyone jokes about. I’m considering more and I will use you as a role model.
Women need to be more careful guarding their possessions.
I’d then say, “We men keep our money close to our hearts”, and I’d pat my back pocket (yes I know the front is better). “You’ll never see a man put his wallet in the kiddie seat of a shopping cart and then walk away from it to look at oranges.” The ladies had to admit I was right. But it’s hard to break a habit of a lifetime.
On a similar note, I see young women jogging alone with headphones on obvious to what might be going on around them.
My respect for Secretary Noem has only increased on a daily basis.
Just yesterday my wife and I were at lunch and three of our friends were to meet us. One didn't show because she had lost her wallet the day before and she was starting the process of reporting all her cards and IDs missing. My wife asked her where was the last place she visited and she told us.
The store was near the restaurant were at so we went and checked. The wallet had not been left there and the clerk said she would have the manager check the security camera. We checked with property management around the corner from the store and a wallet had not been turned in there either. Then we checked with the security office for the whole mall and they said nothing was turned in to them but they would check the security cameras. That was as much as we could do for her so we went home.
A few hours later the friend called and said her wallet had been found. She had given us the wrong store she had last been at. Her wallet was found at a different store. If she had told us that the other store was the last one she went to we would have gone there, and we would have found it and saved her a lot of trouble. We were happy she got her wallet back, but we wished she weren't so rattled and given us bad information.
From what I read, he hooked her purse with his foot and slid it from beneath her chair. Where was her secret service detail? No matter who is charged, I’ll lean towards it being a deep state operative looking for info or planting something. They are devious. I hope when the items are returned, she destroys and deposes of everything, including the purse.
Good ideas.
Here’s another. Like those Soviet enemies who got a jab by an umbrella point and later died of poisoning, or worse the ones with radiation sickness and death. What if someone who got close enough to steal a purse could jab someone or give them a little radioactive substance to carry close to their bodies? With NO stopping them by the Secret Service.
Last week, when reported, the comments on FR were disgraceful. “Ma’am, how much have you had to drink tonight?” Why was she carrying $3,000. cash? It went on and on. JR should have been suspending some posters. It was like the Dump came to FR. Anyone else recall the postings?
I’m exhausted from just reading Noem’s workout schedule.
“Where was her secret service detail?”
I think I read that the SS was out in their cars in the street.
“I think I read that the SS was out in their cars in the street.”
That’s helpful.
Anyone else recall the postings?
+++++++++++++++
Unfortunately, yes.
And where was the Secret Service detail???
