CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — Disgraced former U.S. Rep. George Santos, who lied about his life story and defrauded donors, was sentenced Friday to over seven years in prison, sobbing as he heard his punishment.
The New York Republican, who served in Congress for barely a year before his House colleagues ousted him in 2023, pleaded guilty last summer to federal wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
He admitted to deceiving donors and stealing the identities of nearly a dozen people, including his family members, to fund his winning campaign. As part of a plea deal, Santos has agreed to pay roughly $580,000 in penalties in addition to prison time.

Ok, fine, but why do only Republicans get the dirty end of the stick?
Gold bar Menendez comes to mind.
Or Schwartz Gyorgy for that matter?!
Maybe he should say these were just “mistakes” and “errors” like Tush James is saying.
Congress is a club that does zero due diligence.
That said, Santos was probably the most honest of that dispicable bunch.
I don’t think he’s gonna be doing any more guest spots on Gutfeld, and that’s fine by me, who needs to see a fat giggling queer? Okay he might be ‘popular’ in the big house.
Menendez got it too.
Take a good whiff of how it works in D.C. - fall in line or expect to be targeted, all other corruption ignored.
He did; he must have been a lot dirtier than we know for that to happen.
It’s not Constitutional for the institution to do due diligence prior to gain8ng office. It’s the election process & the voter that’s supposed to do it.
He should have just murdered someone. He’d be out a lot earlier.
