Bingo! We have a winner! Woodrow, Franklin, here’s lookin’ at you, baby. It took a while for the underbrush to catch on fire, but it’s a five-alarm now.

“The Great Recession was the worst economy since the Great Depression.”

Yes, and yet here we are. I came out of it better than I went into it, but I was self-employed, rather than employed by idiots. One of my conundrums in life is that I did incredibly well under Carter and Obama even though I hated both. Didn’t do so well under Reagan but the foundation got set for good things later.

Or even Herbert Hoover...

FDR & Co. caused the SECOND recession that was one of 2 recessions that comprised the Great Depression

Hoover caused recession #1

FDR caused recession #2

Receipts? The brilliant book: “The Forgotten Man”

Read it. Learn it. Love it.

That’s good for you. Many of us came out of it much much MUCH worse than we were when we went into it.

I have read that book...excellent read.

However, it is my opinion that while Hoover may have caused and exacerbated the 1st recession, it was the Administration of FDR, with aggressive government intervention, that caused it to turn into a full-blown depression.

If they had just ridden it out, it might not have turned out (or lasted as long) as it did.

Yeah, I saw that with some friends. I had to sell my one little rental property at a loss but was able to keep the payments current on our home. My income dropped at first, but I started selling foreclosures and then Californians showed up with cash, laughing at the prices and buying everything in sight. They were right. So, I went down and then back up. Self-employed life can be “interesting”. My friends with jobs had a longer period of problems, no doubt about that. My few liberal friends who didn’t really work didn’t even notice.

Another big crash will eventually happen, but I highly doubt it’ll happen anytime soon.( The next decade being “anytime soon.”)
