have been allowed by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to file their individual income tax returns for tax year 2024 a little later, ditching the April 15 deadline.....
1) taxes are still due april 15
2) who decides on the date of tax return due? why some states and not all?
If Whitmer wasn’t so busy trying to get face time (or not), upper Michigan would be receiving tax extensions after the horrific ice storm. There are still around 10,0000 people without power. Some people just got power back a few days ago. They were initially told a month.

The deadline for state and federal taxes for those of us living in Los Angeles County was extended to October 15th b/c of the wildfires.
I’m holding off until October b/c the $$ is in an interest bearing account.
As my Dad used to say: Better in my pocket than the government’s.

For many reasons that FReepers are familiar with, Whitmer is in the top five of Democrats that I despise and hate. A feminazi cabal of witches controls that state, with a female AG too.

Statewide Leaders
Gretchen Whitmer - Serving as the 49th Governor of Michigan since 2019, Whitmer has been a prominent figure in state and national politics. She is known for her focus on healthcare, infrastructure, and progressive policies. She was re-elected in 2022 by a significant margin.
Dana Nessel - Michigan’s Attorney General since 2019, Nessel is recognized for her work on civil rights, consumer protection, and environmental issues.
Jocelyn Benson - Secretary of State since 2019, Benson has focused on election security and accessibility, as well as modernizing the state’s DMV services.
Wasn’t a lot of these short extensions due to weather-related events from 2024?
Damn! I just mailed my check for $2000 Saturday. Look at all that interest I missed!...............
For example, note this from the Alabama Department of Revenue: "Some Alabamians may have until May 1 to file both state and federal taxes, according to a release from the Alabama Department of Revenue (ALDOR).
"The state is offering tax filing and penalty relief, on a case-by-case basis, to taxpayers who reside or have a business in federally declared disaster areas who may be unable to file timely tax returns as a result of damage or disruptions caused by Hurricane Helene, according to its website."
“1) taxes are still due april 15”
Not if you are 8n the selected states where it is due May 1.
“2) who decides on the date of tax return due?”
IRS
“why some states and not all?”
Mother Nature
Shoot...I live in SC. Wish I would have known that...I put mine in the mail this weekend.
This was the last year for the NH interest and dividends tax(2024).
I wrote out my check to State of NH this morning.
I overpaid my FICA taxes. So I will be getting money back that I loaned Uncle Sugar INTEREST FREE!
Had to mail off over $9K this year.
Not a happy camper.
“possibly because of uncertainty surrounding the IRS and its work, and the direction the U.S. economy is headed toward”
riiiight ... FUTURE POSSIBLE events MIGHT POSSIBLY cause folks to delay in filing LAST YEAR’S taxes because, uh, just because ...
apparently, “global warming/climate change” is no longer the cause of everything that’s slightly diffent than a few days ago; now “the direction the economy MIGHT be headed towards” is another all purpose lie by the Democrat propaganda media ...
Agreed.
Here in Florida, our local MSM has been lying to everyone. They blab in the Tampa market about today being the last day.
Seems like more of a push to benefit tax preparers, than honesty to the viewers.
If my wife and I are still owed covid checks from two or three years ago, we hear this is the last chance to file.
Some $$$ got put in my SS direct deposit, but not my wifes. Is it worth the stress of dealing with?
Yes, the coven. I despise them, too.
(the number out of electricity is down to 6000)
Consider that “somebody” already stole your money.
If more than 20.00/hour spent sending in the paperwork, SEND IT. FILE THE APPEAL.
