And the evils of irrational fear, security theater and power seizing nanny statism!

Great idea of eliminating TSA. Never like Bush’s idea of putting all these people on the federal payroll in the first place. Thought it was a boondoggle from the start.

The TSA is solely responsible for screening passengers with checked and carry-on baggage at 450+ U.S. airports.

From TSA’s beginning, this responsibility should have been turned over to the US Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is currently maritime, it’s military and it’s a multi-mission service. It already operates under the Department of Homeland Security.

Its maritime law enforcement mission can be expanded to aviation. Its procedure & process oriented as well as military, therefore, lapses of judgment, decorum or ability by a Coast Guard screener can be reviewed & dealt with immediately. No union related encumbrances.

IMHO I think the Intel agency’s knew these terrorist were in the country and up to no good. They allowed them to continue on their mission because they wanted to get the Patriot Act passed. I don’t think they knew what they had planned or how bad is was going to be.

I’m all for getting rid of TSA. Both TSA and DHS were created out of fear, one which the government at the time thought it could address by depriving Americans of their rights instead of controlling our borders and foreign entrants.

Yep...

Number of terrorists apprehended by TSA after 20+ years: 0

Number of intrusion tests the TSA has failed over the years between 80% and 95% on average.

The TSA did detain a few passengers over the years, but none of them had anything to do with terrorism.

Get rid of the useless bastards.

Gee, I wonder why SFO was exempted from having TSA perform security checks in favor of a private security company?

Because they have Inspector Callahan.

Don’t forget the underwear bomber. Now we have full body scans. The point of terrorism is not to kill, it is to change lifestyles through fear.

Why didn’t they make everyone start taking their underwear off before going through the scanners, just as they required for shoes?

More “Justins” than “Karens” traveling, so maybe you should blame it on them.

I don’t know, but I wish they would issue everyone a knife as they got on the plane instead of taking away toenail clippers. That way everyone knows there are 8 knives surrounding them if they decide to play stupid games.
