GREENBELT, Maryland — An exasperated federal judge commanded the Trump administration Friday to begin providing “daily updates” on whether it is doing anything to comply with her order to return a Maryland man — illegally deported to El Salvador last month — back to the United States.
U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis scolded the administration for refusing to provide even “basic” details about Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s location, despite her demand for an update by Friday morning.

If I read / understood USSC correctly they directed the administration to facilitate his release (from prison). They did not direct the administration to facilitate his return to the US.

Merriam-Webster defines "facilitate" as "to make (something) easier". I suppose that implies some sort of pro-active action. Maybe something like mailing him an invitation. "We invited him back, your honor, so that we can give him his due process as he waits in jail. But we haven't heard back from him."
Trump’s DOJ she just sent a daily note that says “Still trying.”

Yeah, something like, “we sent an email to El Salvador last week. Waiting to hear back. Waiting to hear back. Waiting to hear back....” for months on end.
I don’t recall that being part of the Supreme Court’s order.

Oh, I agree. The thing is the Left is crowing about it as if it were a victory, but as described by Vince Coglianese (the guy who took over for Dan Bongino) if one didn’t read it closely, it might indeed be considered a victory for the Left.
But if it IS read closely, the way the verbiage is written, it doesn’t mean the Trump Administration HAS to bring him back...if I understood Mr. Coglianese correctly. The loophole is, if El Salvador wants to send him back, we have to “facilitate” it.
So, if they don’t start proceedings to send him back, The Trump Administration doesn’t have to do anything, much less “facilitate” it.
I don’t know if Vince is correct, but someone who knows must have had his ear.

Yep. So El Salvador will need to initiate contact with us as he’s their citizen. We just can’t go snatching citizens from their home country. If we did that, the left would be crying about that too.
