In every military unit I been there has always been a display of the chain of command, which starts with the President and SECDEF. Failure for a military leader not to acknowledge that chain is grounds for at least dismissal IMHO. That was my first thought as well. Immediately followed by "Jasmine Crockett is an ignorant race-baiter."

If the commander in chief says “hang the picture”, you hang the picture. You don’t have to like it, but it’s a lawful order and you follow it.
If you can’t follow orders, then the military is probably not for you.

Oh, for sure. An officer can decide to voice publicly his disagreement with the C-I-C, but there’s likely a significant price to pay for choosing to doing so. It seems many people just have to understand things “the hard way”.
