The Senate passed a framework for a sweeping bill promoting President Donald Trump's agenda after an hourslong series of amendment votes during which Democrats sought to put Republicans on record on issues like tariffs and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). It passed mostly along party lines in a 51 to 48 vote around 2:30 a.m. ET on Saturday morning. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Rand Paul, R-Ky., were the only two Republicans to join Democrats in opposing the measure. The amended framework would raise the debt ceiling by up to $5 trillion within the reconciliation process, taking future leverage away from Senate Democrats. It would also make Trump's 2017 tax cuts permanent by using what's called a current policy baseline that Budget Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., decides.

Excellent; Collinโs I get, but Rand must be replaced.
I think Rand was hoping for deeper cuts.
With this budget, at least, we should not be running trillion dollar annual deficits.
The Senate passed a framework for a sweeping bill promoting President Donald Trump’s agenda:
passing Rep 51 to Dem 48 vote. Only two Republicans joined Democrats in opposition: Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Rand Paul, R-Ky.
The amended framework raises the debt ceiling by up to $5 trillion within the reconciliation process which makes Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent using the current policy baseline where the Budget Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., decides.
Deeper cuts just got a lot easier since the next step is reconciliation. This step would have been a stupid place for the GOP to wreck the midterms. This is a huge win for Trump. He gambled biggly and won. He gets this big beautiful budget and a free follow up hack at it with a simple majority in the house.
Not houseโฆ senate. Simple majority in senate.
Who else is getting tired of Random Paul
“With this budget, at least, we should not be running trillion dollar annual deficits.”
I need to refresh myself on President Trumpโs 2017 tax cuts to know exactly what has been made permanent.
Does anyone have the review of these 2017 tax cuts?
“Who else is getting tired of Random Paul?”
ME!
BTTT
“Simple majority in senate.”
This statement appeared in the article, but not the excerpt:
“Budget reconciliation lowers the vote threshold in the Senate from 60 to 51, which lets Republicans approve certain priorities with no Democrat support.”
Very old news by the way. The action is now in the house where the GOP may very well die on this hill.
“Rand Paul is a RINO”
In addition, I think he is jealous of President Trump. His father Ron Paul repeatedly ran for the Office of President.
I believe he presumes as being an established politician, he has more qualifications & should be President not a Businessman that invaded his turf!
Ego, just his ego gets in the way.
Rand Paul voted to the Left of Lisa Murkowski and Mitch McConnell on this one.
The RNC Senate re-election Committee endorsed and funded Collins (again), right?
Rand is like a case of the Herpes... He keeps coming back...
“Rand is like a case of the Herpes... He keeps coming back...”
Like father, like son.
Ron Paul repeatedly ran for the Office of President.
btt!!
