"That sounds very much like this country," the US president emphasized
WASHINGTON, April 1. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump believes that the sentence of Marine Le Pen, the leader of France’s National Rally parliamentary faction, is very similar to the prosecution to which he himself was subjected to in the United States.
"That's a very big deal. I know all about it, and a lot of people thought she wasn't going to be convicted of anything," the US leader said, referring to Le Pen's sentence. "And I don't know if it means conviction, but she was banned for running for five years, and she's the leading candidate," Trump added, responding to questions from reporters at the White House.
"That sounds very much like this country," the US president emphasized.
This is how the world saw us for the last 2 decades.
mimickry is the greatest form of flatery
Do people realize Le Pen is not a conservative in the sense we consider here in the U.S. Fiscally, she may be to the left of most Democrats.
So?
The biggest issue in Europe right now is illegal immigration/open borders policy.
The point is, do we the people (here or in France) get to choose our representatives or does only the Deep State get to present the menu of approved choices from which to select?
The gravest threat to the Western world is the globalist agenda.
The EU and NATO are a modern-day version of Soviet Union.
Are the Le Pens (the whole family)controlled opposition. I am old enough to remember myriad times they were supposed to do well, or win, and they always underperform. If I was French, I’d want to move on. Pick someone who has fire and wants to win. Not perennial losers.
You can’t be a nationalist and a socialist. The trot a Le Pen out every time as a sacrificial lamb.
Trump is totally On Target.
Kick France out of NATO.
[Da Gaulle WANTED THAT ANYWAY. [F him and the Brie he rode in on.]]
It turns out, Marine Le Pen had a body guard and a few young (secretarial?) woman she was paying. And they were all good looking for sure. But the court said she was paying them with EU money, to do her parties (National Rally) work. It is all accounting and (how many angels can dance on the head of a pin) hokey pokey. And now 40 million French people don’t count. This is a big one.
And every, national level, politician, in Europe, could be charged and convicted of the exact same thing..
Maybe its time for a Sixth Republic in France?
So PUT SANCTIONS on the French judges!
The french will get up sound off and then sit back down, nothing will come of it.
Well she's controlled now. She's been sentenced to jail!
If I was French, I’d want to move on.
You sound pretty surrendermonkeyish, sure you're not French?
Pick someone who has fire and wants to win.
She was ahead of the whole pack. It's why they took her down.
Not perennial losers.
Must be tough looking in the mirror for you. "If I was French, I’d want to move on"
What’s that got to do with the French government setting her up on fake charges for political purposes because she’s beating Macron in the polls?
I tend to agree with that.
It might even have been European money that started the ball rolling against Trump. The UK and their “former” spy Steele’s involvement seems to point at Europe.
> Are the Le Pens (the whole family) controlled opposition?
I’m not intimately familiar with French politics, but would say this: if they were controlled opposition, they would be on the ballot and then throw the election in the manner of Bush the Elder in ‘92 and McCain. Instead, they are giving her the Trump treatment. That tells me a lot.
I guess you don't remember how the treated George W. Bush, Sarah Palin, Reagan?
No, they get the right kind of narrative from the Le Pens, but the Le Pen always underperform. And they agree with them on 99% of issues.
