Shell is betting big on natural gas as the best-positioned fossil fuel for the transition to cleaner energy sources. The problem is that some analysts say the market for liquefied natural gas may be oversupplied as soon as next year, so prices could fall sharply.
That actually could be a positive for Shell, one of the world’s biggest suppliers of LNG, CEO Wael Sawan said in an interview with Barron’s on Wednesday.

Sorry, I misunderstood your comment. I hate going to subscription based articles too......
I predict an updated global warming prediction.
You cant ask for a cheaper and cleaner, more efficient source of energy.
Growing up wwe had the electric stove but it was a happy day when gas artived. Gas stoves are a joy to cook on
Thanks, it looks like good news.
It's not just about cheap energy production, it's about inexpensive raw materials.
Refineries have been set up to convert natural gas to produce a low cost naptha replacement to use as feed stock for everything from plastics, petrochemicals, fertilizers and pharmacueticels
For sure. They’ll tell us we only have a month and a half to live! 🙄
Agreed. And the left is trying to ban natural gas even though it was just a few years ago that they were pushing us to use “clean burning natural gas”. There’s no way to placate them —- and that’s by their design.
Guessing the reason they want us to use less gas is maybe it’s easier to keep the price of electricity jacked up through the “green energy” progrograms.
Natural gas is the step in the right direction. Cleaner than coal so why does the left hate it so much? Fact is they don’t want any energy. That includes solar. Economic activity is their problem. Capitalism will find a way and that’s their problem.
It means, potentially, equalization of international and US domestic gas prices
LNG is $13/mm btu abroad, but its only about $3-$4mm btu in the USA, even cheaper in TX and Louisiana
Hence LNG terminals want to take advantage of that huge price differential and profit potential
That means lower prices for India, but higher prices in the USA
Can’t LNG be used to power vehicles? I have seen garbage trucks and delivery trucks with signs saying they are LNG powered so why not promote the use of LNG as a clean fuel alternative to EVs.
UPS uses Natural Gas to fuel most of their over the road semi-truck fleet. We have a regional hub nearby and they can fuel an enormous number of Compressed Natural Gas vehicles simultaneously. They have many more low pressure filling stations than high pressure stations. The main difference is the speed of the refuel. The low pressure fueling takes hours as opposed to minutes for a high pressure fueling.
