Just a reminder.

At 3.4% composite interest on the debt ($31T, excluding the $6T held by the Fed) has interest of just under $1T.

Let’s give Elon $500B saved off spending. That means this year’s deficit will be $1.5T instead of $2T. So we’ll add that $1.5T to the $31T debt. Then $32.5T. At 3.5% (it’s increasing via instrument rollover) the interest is then
$1.135T.

Erases about half of the $500B that Elon found. The next year all $500B will be erased.

It is BS

Musk is good at it.

Democrats say the exact same thing about President Trump: "Trump is a BS artist and he's good at it."

But I think the Democrats still don't get that both Trump & Musk get important stuff done. In contrast, Democrats always destroy stuff and make things far worse (SEE Biden's handlers).

Gotta start somewhere. DOGE at least has the nation (and the world) talking about the deficit and debt. The national mindset has been changed for the better. No Republican President has ever done squat about it, that's why it's $37T and rapidly soaring. Democrats are hopeless. Republican Presidents are our only hope. Thanks, President Trump for focusing on this.

Believe me, Musk wanted to hack FAR more government fraud, abuse, waste, and corruption than DOGE is being permitted to cut. Musk knew going in that he would instantly get huge political grief for even thinking about reducing U.S. government fraud, abuse, waste, and corruption.

Republican & Democrat (Uniparty) politicians absolutely LOVE government fraud, abuse, waste, and corruption. Because if they didn't, Republicans would have intensely pursued something like DOGE a long, long time ago ... but they never did.

So, thank you President Trump, thank you VP Vance, and thank you DOGE Musk.

I don’t think their plans are to pay down debt.

Rather their plans are to grow the size of the private economy so the US is achieving 4 or even 5 percent annual growth rates.

Do that for a decade and the size of the debt relative to the size of the GDP shrinks in half.

How do they do that? Well, by raising tarriffs. Either countries build in the USA or they face large tarriffs or they reduce their tarriffs so there is parity. This last option makes american exports more competitive. The second option increases revenues to the federal government. The first option brings jobs to the USA and grows the size of the economy.

Trump currently has roughly 3 TRILLION dollars worth of commitments by companies in the USA and around the world to invest in the USA.

That’s before the actual tax bill is passed in May/June,

Investments that big predict large growth in the US GDP in the next decade.

The U.S. government was crime scene prior to Trump.

These people need to pay! Demand their mansions, assets, and bank accounts be seized!

Good. Now if Congress can get their act together and cut the budget that much.

Socialist Security Medicare National Defense I doubt the politicians or DOGE can present a budget with 1 trillion in reduced spending that doesn’t include the “Big Three.”

If there is fraud, waste and abuse in the big three then of course there will be cuts in the big three. Nobody is saying otherwise. Why setup that strawman fallacy?

"experts have warned that Musk will be unable to reach his goal without making cuts to programs like Social Security".

That is one of the Democrat pervert press's talking points.

Several posts up, somebody just used that bogus talking point.

I don’t believe most of the crap being presented by any media, let alone political partisans on X.

And when I “say any media” I mean all of them, liberal, conservative, foreign, etc.

That's how we all should be. Treat ALL sources with skepticism. Just because someone says things we want to hear, that doesn't make it true. Many "conservative" sources, especially those on X, are posting utter BS that rivals the legacy media.

I pick that the BS is more likely coming from the politicians and the media rather than Musk.

Your faith that waste, fraud and abuse by the federal government is less than 15% of the budget is noted.

I don't share such faith in corrupt DC.

Self driving cars.
AI
That under ground tunnel in Vegas.
Pick it.

He is a great BS artist. He is also pretty accomplished.

Reusable launch rockets.
Fun to drive sports cars (and the fun)
A decent flamethrower.

The two are not mutually exclusive. Musk’s mistake is promising $1T of cuts which he will not be able to deliver. In business it is expected that a guy like Musk will lie, oversell, and fade. This is something different.

A reasonable "skeptic" of the federal government would think that finding just 15% (or 1 trillion) of waste fraud and abuse in the federal budget is very possible.

We seem to have a few trusting "skeptics" of the federal government, here.

That is where the tariffs come in. Add in the additional tax receipts from new manufacturing in the US…and it might just happen.

Trump and Elon piss more democrats on how to run a government the right way.

A win win deal

A chance to start paying off the national debt and not just the interest on it.

That’s nice. So, we will only be $1T more in debt at year’s end.

Okay, thanks.

It's Big Media's strawman fallacy. Let us not run with it.
