During a meeting at the presidential palace in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, Argentinian President Javier Milei assured visiting officials from the Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) that he would grant them access to classified documents detailing how 5,000 Nazi war criminals settled in Argentina after the Holocaust.
Ten thousand Nazi war criminals are estimated to have fled Europe – and justice – following World War II via escape routes known as the so-called “ratlines.” The records of the escapes and who financed them have remained classified preventing historians and Nazi hunters, including the SWC, from gaining access.
“While some previous leaders promised full cooperation to get to the hard truths that involved Argentina’s past, Milei is the first to act, with lightning speed, to enable the SWC to uncover important pieces of the historic puzzle, especially as it related to involvement with Nazis before, during and after the Holocaust,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the SWC.

😂👍. Thanks for looking.
They tracked down Eichman and brought him to justice. Someone really high-ranking like Borman, able to live his days peacefully in Argentina or Paraguay or Uruguay? I doubt it.
Josef Mengele the “Angel of Death”, lived out his life in South America, moving around and living in different places, even though his family knew where he was and sent money to him from time to time.
It would be difficult for a well know high ranking Nazi to live out his life in South America, but Mengele proved it was
not impossible.
Back then the Argentinian Peron led essentially Fascist government was very close to Germany & Italy. Additionally, there were large numbers of ethnic German & Italian settlers in Argentina so it’s not surprising!

Yes, there are still a lot of multi generational German communities in South America. Some in a few extremely remote places.
Apparently the Vatican provided a fake passport for Ante Pavelic (head of the German-installed puppet regime which controlled Bosnia and most of Croatia during the war), enabling him to flee to Argentina. He was shot there in 1957 by a Montenegrin Serb emigre but didn’t die of his wounds until more than two years later—by then he was living in Spain.
There was a TV series about these Nazi’s in Argentina. They dug up, what appeared to be, clear evidence of all this.
More transparency is great.
WWII era German aerospace engineers who fled to or simply emigrated Argentina designed & built one of the first post-WWII operational jet fighters for Peron’s Air Force. It was quite advanced for its time. Unfortunately Argentine O&M wasn’t capable of keeping them flying so they became an interesting quirk of aviation history.
I think they helped some even bigger names. Some of them hid out in churches until it cooled off and they could move through Spain.
Wow, that is pretty cool history there. I had no clue! Interesting that they used Rolls Royce. That means there had to be some engineer collaboration with the UK...
Mark Felton, a YouTube presenter has done quite a bit on the circumstances surrounding Bormann. You can see it here:

He has done over an hour on Bormann, if you’re interested.
“what appeared to be, clear evidence of all this.”
SWC has extensive records. But “All This” is very broad indeed.
The Jews have been studying this for 75 years.
This is because Communism was a universalist philosophy, with great appeal to the Third World. Whereas Nazism limited its appeal to Western "Aryan" Europeans." The Nazis regarded even Slavs as subhuman, never mind the Third World.
Had the Nazis won, they would not have spread their influence as far as did the Soviet Union. Nazism would also have collapsed internally faster than did the USSR.
> That Communism was a greater threat than Nazism. <
That argument could certainly be made. I suppose Nazism was targeted first because Hitler (and his ally Hirohito) got WW2 started by invading other countries.
Stalin was pretty much a monster just in his own country.
> Nazism would also have collapsed internally faster than did the USSR. <
I never thought about that, but you’re probably right. After Lenin died, Stalin stepped right in. And after Stalin, Khrushchev. Etc.
But Hitler was Nazism. Had he been assassinated early, Nazi Germany probably would have gone the way of Franco’s Spain - and that wasn’t so bad.
So, yeah. You’re probably right.
There is a podcast called “The World War 2 Podcast with Angus Wallace” that is outstanding. I download it to an mp3 player for traveling.
In 1939, Stalin attacked Finland, the Baltic states, and Poland.
The Soviets also attacked and occupied Mongolia as early as 1921. But nobody much cares about Mongolia.
