Democrats’ big dilemma: ‘Raise hell’ or find compromise with GOP?
Washington Examiner via MSN ^ | March 23, 2025 | Ramsey Touchberry and Rachel Schilke

Democrats are at a crossroads over whether to reach across the aisle for legislative wins or stonewall President Donald Trump at all costs.

Lawmakers are emerging from constituent events bruised and battered from voter demands to fight Republicans tooth and nail. But not everyone is sold on the strategy, as Democrats scramble for cohesion and reveal division that’s taken the spotlight off Trump’s flurry of executive actions.

“I am definitely in the ‘Democrats need to raise hell’ camp,” Democratic strategist Brad Bannon said. “Voters aren’t in the calm mood, and I don’t think they are receptive to a Democratic Party that’s going to roll over and play dead.”

Democratic lawmakers have been hit with that reality in hostile town halls, in-person events that they thought would offer dunk fests on the Trump administration but have instead backfired. A majority of Democratic voters and independents who lean left say they want all-out resistance over bipartisanship.

“We want you to show some of the backbone and strategic brilliance that Mitch McConnell would have in the minority,” a man told Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD) at a contentious town hall.

Another attendee, 71-year-old Debbie Mathis, told the Washington Examiner that “these are not normal times” and Democrats “need to fight differently.”

“It was a feel-good moment listening to Raskin,” a 57-year-old female federal worker, who was granted anonymity out of fear for her job, told the Washington Examiner after a town hall with Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and April McClain Delaney (D-MD). “But I’m still like, ‘Ugh, what are we going to do?’”

Across the country, swing-state Sens. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) were told at an equally tense constituent event to “fight dirtier” and “get in the mud” with Republicans.

A main problem is that democrats do not have any reasonable platform where there can be compromise with the Trump administration, it's basically:

Stop Trump
Destroy Trump
LGBTQ
Men competing in women's sports
No voter ID
More Taxes
Bigger government
America last

Yup, they went with raise hell years ago. They raise hell when they are in charge, out of power or just hanging out at Starbucks.

That is their problem. They stand for nothing.

The old adage, “Go along to get along”, is a tough rule to try to break.

For years it was enforced upon Republicans, and usually worked.

Now, the shoe is on the other foot.

It’s TRUMP’S Department of Justice and all the various intelligence branches now. And they are getting weeded out.

The only way in the immediate future they return to power is if they lose the rhetoric about the crazy stuff (DEI, tranny stuff) and pretend to join in the cut government crusade and get rid of illegal criminal crusade.

“We want to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse but not so precipitously. We want to get rid of criminals but with due process”

Then make their crusade hugely public and agree to some small changes in congress that hurt their cash flow but don’t kill it and work to slow down and delay everything else (that’s behind the scenes. In public, they are for cutting the deficit and losing criminal immigrants). Eventually congress will revert to its corrupt spending ways and they could go about business as usual. The courts can be counted on to throw a spanner in any quick deportations beyond the most egregious criminals. That keeps much of their gravy train running and they play for time for the momentum of Trump to die down.

When Tren folks are deported, celebrate it as a victory. There is no world in which they get public support for keeping murderers and rapists in the country. By giving up a few of their Tren supporters, they position themselves as hard on crime and immigration without actually having to be there.

Then position themselves as the party that wants “sensible” and “common sense” solutions to waste, fraud and abuse, although don’t do anything to change that except support a few very high profile cutbacks that they can sell to independents as the new D party.

They do need to find alternate fundraising sources while that is happening because some of the changes are going to affect their cash flow from the federal government.

But even that could relegate them to permanent minority status like the Republicans in the New Deal/Great Society era of the last eighty years. “Of course we want [list popular thing of the other party] but not so fast and not so much.”

The other problem with that is that they alienate their base, which is as hard radical as any 20% of the population since the depression.

“I am definitely in the ‘Democrats need to raise hell’ camp,” Democratic strategist Brad Bannon said. “Voters aren’t in the calm mood, and I don’t think they are receptive to a Democratic Party that’s going to roll over and play dead.”

And so the democrats continue to alienate themselves from the general populace.

They imagine the voters are what they wish they were, not what the voters really are.

Utopia doesn't exist, democrats.

Democrats have been hit with reality in hostile town halls, thinking they would hear gripes about Trump but attendees are mad as hell and bashing Democrats.

“We want you to show some of the backbone that Mitch McConnell had in the minority,” a man told Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD) at a contentious town hall. Another attendee told the Washington Examiner, “these are not normal times” and Democrats “need to fight differently.”

How about they just go to hell?

Maybe democrats actually are as bad as the media keeps lying about Republicans.

I mean really, what do democrats offer that is beneficial to the country?

I think I may have coined a phrase. If you have seen it elsewhere, you don’t need to tell me. Leave me with my delusions.

Aspirational Sedition

Aspirational Sedition is the leading value of the current Democratic Party. They want to undermine Donald Trump. They want to undermine traditional American values. They want to put Normies in their place.

For many of them, their childhood dreams didn’t actualize. The girls never found the right guy. The boys never really got tough and manly.

The feel more fellowship with the population of failures than with day-to-day strivers.

All this sounds like something that is usually called seditions. Democrats love it.

I was in the second grade when I decided Democrats were nut cases. I have no idea what my multiple times divorced parents were politically.
But when I watched the “worship” of a president who had been assassinated that, told me these people are NUTS!
Even as a second grader I could see the problem.
Admittedly I used to go to Sunday school the many times I was sent to grandma’s when my parents were doing their latest divorce.
But I knew you worship God and his son.
You don’t worship a man, regardless of his politics!

When your standard practice includes violence, acts of terrorism, and hate? Pretty sure your side has already chosen “raise hell” as your path.

The first mistake is calling them: “The Democratic Party” and “democrats”.
The real “Democratic Party” died a loonnngggg time ago.
What we have now is a bunch of vile, anti-American, godless communist basstids that are hellbent on the destruction of the country at any cost.
They’ve stolen the “Democratic Party” name to hoodwink the low-IQ voter and the uniformed. The only resemblence between the real “Democratic Party” and these basstids is the stolen name.
They are: the domestic “Communist Party” and they need to be called out for what they really are. Calling them “democrats” is falling right into their trap. They’re not. They’re outright communists, and not very good ones at that. Real commies wouldn’t put up with a lot of the BS these jackasses are pushing.

There were always Socialists/Communists in the Democratic Party. You can go way back 100 years. Bernie Sanders was seen as an Extremist. Today he is considered to be a mainstreamed politician in the Democratic Party.
