Ping Canada Ping
Freepmail me if you want on or off the Canadian list. I plan on actively running it only through the election
The latest podcast from The Numbers could be worth a half-hour
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18i651-f1Wg
And the latest forecast from 538 has the liberals at 90%
https://338canada.com/federal.htm
He wants the election before his positions become known.
As long as Alberta and Saskatchewan are part of the country, 90% is overstaying their support.
This will be interesting to watch unfold...
90% chance of winning—not 90% of the vote. Vote percentage is projected for low 40’s. NDP in very low double digits. Bloc is down to 25% in Quebec.
I think he wants to run against Trump, and as Trump sounds as if he has just figured out that he should keep his mouth shut for a while, delaying will lead to this option becoming too stale.
Yes, running against Trump is a winner down east.
Yes, running against Trump is a winner down east.
I’d say that it doesn’t hurt here-—and I’m in a deeply conservative rural Ontario riding (ranked 34th safest for the CPC in the nation—5th or so safest in Ontario).
Here comes the carneyval
Why bother the computerized results are already in.
I think the actual counting in Canada is fairly clean.
The big question in my mind is can Carney continue running against Trump, or will Trump step aside and allow the CPC some air to be heard.
Unfortunately this carneyval is likely to become a Carneystays, ushering in a four-year time of penance.
CAney has no parliamentry seat. I am wpndering how he can recall Parliament? Will he get Turdo tp do it?
My two cents:
Canadians are asleep at the wheel.
They have drunk the Liberal koolaid, “Orange man bad,” propaganda form CNN via CBC, and CTV over the last 10 years.
The fact is that if Canada elects the liberals this time, Canada will become a third world country, an outpost of the WEF beyond the European pale. This while the United States enters its golden age, Canadians can comfort themselves in sucking the hind tit of progressive ideology, which now imprisons the Canadian populus, while ruled by a political elite of liberal politicians, who have conspired to illegally destroy Canada’s true dream of a populist movement and freedom, as represented by the Freedom Movement, Chris Barbour and Tamara Lich.
Trump knows this exactly. Will Canada cast of these liberal chains? Doubtful, they are too busy booing the US national anthem, and wing nutting US booze off their retail shelves, as if it mattered to anyone but themselves
Trump will never cut a deal with the liberal politicians who now think they have beaten the populist movement in Canada.Trump will beat the royal pish out of them, just as he is doing now.
A new more populist Conservative government might be able to save the day, but Canadians have been blinded by the cries of faux liberal Canadian Nationalism which will further imprison them.
They vote liberal , Canada is no more. The country will become the Zimbabwe of the North. Why do you think that the liberals have destroyed the private use of firearms in Canada, and its civil retail industry? The liberal elites refuse to give up power.Canada’s liberal thought police are sharpening their knives.Soon if you criticize a elite liberal in any public forum, you will be charged with criminal hate speech, or hauled up before a Human Rights Board.
Trump knows all of this, and he has given Canada an opportunity of economy which has been reviled and ignored by the Canadian press.Who would blame Trump for his contempt for the Liberal Party of Canada? Certainly not Americans who bask in a new age of liberty and freedom from the progressive yoke still plaguing Canada.
Canada has become a parasite on the United States economically and militarily , while Canadians are assured that they are something special by their liberal/NDP, they have become a nation of fools.
Nobody watches CBC so I’m not sure how many could be brainwashed by it, perhaps they have broadcasting direct to the minds now?
Hard to say if Carney has much of a chance of doing better than Trudeau was likely to do, after all, it will be pretty simple in the month of campaigning to point out that he is just Trudeau without charisma, and that’s all Trudeau really had going for him anyway.
I am relieved they will be calling an early election, it would have been awkward having the G-7 meeting here in June and an unelected prime minister with no mandate. Meanwhile, Justin has several man dates lined up.
Just to clarify about CBC, years ago a lot of Canadians watched CBC news and/or two other networks we have that are almost equally progressive (CTV and Global TV), nowadays I believe most watch only one of CTV or Global, and not CBC which has backed off to almost PBS ratings for news. If they didn’t show hockey nobody would be watching CBC at all.
That reminds me, if the election is in hockey playoff season as expected, then they can drop occasional news teasers into the intermissions of the hockey games which may help the Liberals a tiny bit with the old-style CBC propaganda which used to be pretty blatant in the 80s and 90s.
So nowadays it’s like CNN backing the Democrats, a known factor of very little significance to voting prospects. I suspect the bump in the polls for Carney and Liberals is either a made-up push poll or just voters not really hearing any actual information yet, as in the USA, 90% of the voters are fairly non-political types and take their time coming up with an election choice. We have typically a 20% swing vote factor in play here, not everyone is a card-carrying Liberal, Conservative or New Democrat, in fact party membership here is a much smaller percentage than in some countries, you don’t have to be a registered anything to vote anywhere because we don’t have primaries, just elections. A “primary” here is basically a riding executive meeting.
Oh, my sweet summers child.
With the parliamentary system it does no good to run things up in particular ridings, and Canada, unliked the U.S., does not seem to have the phenomena of impromptu vote manufacturing in close ridings.
While it is possible that nursing homes and cemeteries are being harvested, it seems to me that this is likely done on a small and consistent scale.
In the last Ontario election, if there was actual vote rigging I can only see the possibility of the PCs doing it.
That said, the process of candidate selection is horrendous. At the provincial level, last election the incumbent here stepped aside under three months before writ drop and when the writ dropped no candidates had been selected.
The anointed conservative is unknown, outside of his home town (admittedly now the largest town in the riding, but still only 10% or so of the total population). He didn’t bother to campaign. And now is off to assumedly do whatever the provincial party tells him.
At least our federal mp is an old reform warhorse——and when the party tried to get her through a contested nomination battle some years ago, she was victorious, which seems again proof that things aren’t terribly rigged, at least around here.
Where do you think votes are being manufactured artificially to the point of changing seat counts?
Parliament was pirogue until March 24th, so without further action it automatically reconvenes at that point, which is why the 23rd is such a logical date to make the call.
