Liz Cheney Under Fire For USAID Role
Miami Herald ^ | 3-19-25 | Grace Hall

Former GOP Congresswoman Liz Cheney faced backlash from conservatives on social media after defending her work with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The exchange drew the attention of DOGE leader Elon Musk, who escalated critiques of Cheney’s past role at USAID. Cheney’s held positions within embassies in Poland, Hungary, Russia, and Ukraine.

The controversy intensified as Musk’s comments coincided with calls from former President Donald Trump to close USAID, citing concerns of corruption. Responding to the criticism, Cheney wrote, “[Expletive] right, @Elon. I’m proud of what America did to win the Cold War, defeat Soviet communism, and defend democracy. Our nation stood for freedom. You may be unfamiliar with that part of our history since you weren’t yet an American citizen.”

Former Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones wrote, “You care more about illegals coming to this country stealing from this country than @elon giving to this country.”

Mike Benz, Executive Director of Foundation For Freedom Online, wrote, “From Liz Cheney to Barack Obama, a lot of people still don’t appreciate how much of America’s political aristocracy class grew up in USAID families.”

Trump’s directive came just hours before many USAID employees were expected to be suspended or laid off, signaling a potential dissolution of the agency. The White House stated, “For decades, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been unaccountable to taxpayers as it funnels massive sums of money to the ridiculous — and, in many cases, malicious — pet projects of entrenched bureaucrats, with next-to-no oversight.”

USAID employees, including foreign service officers, have been left in limbo regarding their employment status. Guidance suggested they could return home within 30 days, but clarifications allowed them to remain abroad at their own expense.

The agency’s future remains uncertain, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio appointed as acting director. Rubio said, “The president made me the acting administrator. I’ve delegated that power to someone who is there full time, and we’re going to go through the same process at USAID as we’re going through now at the State Department.”

It’s blatant corruption and they should all be imprisoned.

Then there’s the issue of that auto-penned ‘pardon’ for a soviet-style kangaroo court that Trump plans not to honor.

Cheney is better off keeping her mouth shut.
She’s liable to end up with jail time.
I wonder how many lawyers she’s hired since her pardon was signed with an “autopen?”
AND why did she NEED a signed PARDON?

And it is very likely that due to AutoPen signature, Biden did not sign the Pardon’s for his pals in crime.

The person in charge is already dismissed.

Let’s see what really happens. Should be interesting.

I too like Rubio where he is, but it’s impossible to tell whether he’s changed to MAGA or is simply trying to carry out Trump’s policies. For example, he was not good on Amnesty, and he bought into the Neocon Gaslighting on Ukraine. Vance, for example, never had those problems.

DeSantis can’t be trusted either, given the way he went after Trump in the 2020 Primaries, leaving the impression with me (at least) that he was being pushed to do that by someone (either his Ukrainian spokeswoman, or his wife, or both)...I get the feeling with DeSantis he hasn’t developed his own views on important international issues and that’s not what we want in the White House.

Time to open investigations on The Pardoned. Pardons can’t even be invoked until charges are filed.

This is how the politically connected elite get and stay rich in this country. Being the daughter of a Vice President obviously got her an invite to “the club” where she got a make work job with a NGO funded by USAID taxpayer money. After milking that for millions (her net worth is supposedly $47 million) she got elected to Congress before her ego and mouth got her tossed out on her ass.

At this point I’m wondering if there’s a politician in the U.S. that hasn’t had their relatives getting rich from USAID. It appears to be the go to method for laundering taxpayer money into the pockets of politician’s families.

Those aren’t “USAID families”. They grew up in the CIA, which multigenerationally, criminally, takes care of its own.
