Elon Musk has confirmed that SpaceX’s Starship is set to launch for Mars by the end of 2026, and it will carry Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus.
@elonmusk Starship departs for Mars at the end of next year, carrying Optimus.
If those landings go well, then human landings may start as soon as 2029, although 2031 is more likely. https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1900774290682683612?
According to Musk, if everything goes as planned, humans could reach Mars as early as 2029—though he acknowledged that 2031 is a more realistic target.
The X account for Optimus replied to Musk’s announcement with just two words: "Hold on."
"Starship is the world’s most powerful launch vehicle ever developed, capable of carrying up to 150 metric tonnes fully reusable and 250 metric tonnes expendable," SpaceX writes on its website. In US tons, that is up to 165 tons of fully reusable and up to 275 tons expendable.
Musk has long talked about his dream of sending men to Mars, and recently he was spotted in the White House wearing an "Occupy Mars" shirt.
"I can’t think of anything more exciting than going out there and being among the stars," a quote from Musk reads on SpaceX’s webpage on its mission of "making humanity multiplanetary."
Musk’s announcement of a mission to Mars comes during an exciting week for SpaceX.
On Friday, SpaceX and NASA launched a crew headed for the International Space Station (ISS) with astronauts who will replace Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who have been stuck in space for nine months.
Test pilots Wilmore and Williams launched into space aboard Boeing’s Starliner on June 5, 2024, with plans to return to Earth on June 13. However, thruster failures and helium leaks forced NASA and Boeing to keep the astronauts aboard the ISS rather

Be sure to write when you get there.
I expect you are a minority. Well, with the liberals you would have company.
Amazing the progress in the last 125 years.
LOL! When I saw your headline, I thought Space X was picking up the astronauts and heading straight to Mars.
I was going to say the astronauts might want to come home for a nice hot shower and a visit with their families before going on a trip to Mars.
Does it count that Maxine Waters’ brain is already out in space? 🌌 🪐

You first.
Makes sense. Send automatons. Have them start some terraforming. Send them supplies and materials so that they can prep a small colony for the first humans to live in and survive when they decide to go there. Send them Jew instructions and updates for the next projects and of course they’ll need recharging stations. Build Storage sheds for sleep, food, solar for energy (at least at first) maybe even some greenhouses to grow food. Will need to figure out how to air lock some oxygen. Could also start figuring out some way to get back if possible. 9 month trip, each way.
Have they figured out the required SPF level the astronauts need for the part of the mission through the Van Allen Belts?
Don’t want them too burned
I'm sure there are numerous Jews on the SpaceX team... lol
lol. Darn Siri autocorrect is useless! But sure might as well open a temple on Mars while they’re at it.
I just noticed your tagline..!
Most excellent, and true
Until it happens, it's just talk. Musk has a long history of making overly optimistic promises, and this is just another one of those.
It should be a manned flight! I woild recommend Marx Carney, Justin(e) True-dolt, Jughead Singh, Two-tier Keir Starmer, Mini Macron and his husband, and a few others, to crew the craft; one way trip, you understand.
A strong electromagnetic field can be deployed on a spacecraft to deflect charged particles. Yes, I expect that manned Space X Starships will have deflector shields for use in deep space.
Will take 20 years to get there provided the exposure to radiation doesn’t kill them first. It will be a one way trip.
Inventors are like that. A friend of mine who is a successful patent lawyer explains that the key to his practice is to get paid up front and set terms and boundaries against the demands, zeal, and sometimes craziness that inventors are prone to.
