Libertarian National Committee Chair Steven Nekhaila issued a statement this week condemning the recent arrest and potential deportation of Mahmoud Khalil, labeling it a politically motivated attack on free speech and an abuse of immigration law.
Last Saturday, Mahmoud Khalil, a legal U.S. permanent resident and Columbia University graduate student, was arrested by federal agents. The Department of Homeland Security alleges that Khalil led activities aligned with Hamas, a designated terrorist organization, citing his involvement in pro-Palestinian demonstrations at Columbia University last year. Khalil’s attorney contends that he has no proven ties to Hamas and has committed no crimes.
As of Wednesday, a federal judge has temporarily blocked Khalil’s deportation, pending further legal proceedings. Despite this, Khalil remains detained at an ICE facility in Louisiana, with his legal team challenging the government’s actions as an infringement on his First Amendment rights. A hearing is scheduled for later in March.
In a statement made that same Wednesday, Nekhaila criticized the U.S. government for its actions, asserting that immigration law is being weaponized against Khalil and other student protesters to suppress dissent. He drew parallels to historical instances where the state has targeted activists, arguing that free speech is an inherent liberty not “granted by the state” and that Libertarians oppose all efforts to restrict it.
The full statement published by the Libertarian Party reads:
"Statement on the Arrest and Potential Deportation of Mahmoud Khalil & Free Speech
"The U.S. government is once again using immigration law as a political weapon, this time against Mahmoud Khalil and other student protesters. Free speech is not a privilege granted by the state; it is an innate liberty that the state is supposed to protect. Just as Nixon targeted anti-war activists, the government is now silencing dissent on Palestine. Libertarians oppose all state crackdowns on speech, no matter the target. – LNC Chair [Steven Nekhaila]
Public stocks and pillory,
for a few weeks.
THEN deportation....
Make them fear
Open border Liebertarians.
>”The U.S. government is once again using immigration law as a political weapon<
The insanity to think enforcing the law is somehow political.
I’ll say it again, Libertarians are just hedonists who hate being taxed. They’re unreliable “allies” to the conservative cause, at best.
Plus this bozo would go ballistic if you used your free speech to properly call a male him when said male claims to be a girl.
Free speech for thee but not for me.
Libertines.
libertarian’s are nothing more than the mentally ill democrat light.
attack on free speech and an abuse of immigration law doesnot hold water
They are hear because we allow them to be here, they do not have the same rights as American citizens and when you misbehave you are asked to leave PERIOD!
Ah, yes, the Libturdarians.
The ORIGINAL party of open borders, open support for “funny uncles” and everything LGBTQP, a bong in every cupboard; one-world government hyperintellectual know-nothings who would debate like medievel monks on how many liberties could fit on top of a pinhead while their lunch went unattended and cold in the breakroom microwave.
You know, the party that’s helped elect dementiacrats nationwide since 1982-ish.
Just
He’s an idiot. Global libertarianism is an impossibility. National libertarians, which is what Americanism is, works fine. But you can’t have open borders to 8 billion other people.
He’s a national security threat. It’s that simple.

Rubio put it best by saying something like: If, on his application for Residency, he said that he was going to organize protests for a Terrorist Group, Harass and Threaten Jews, and be a pain in the ass for kids simply trying to go to college, he likely would been rejected, at least according to our immigration laws.
Makes sense to me and his (likely sham) wife can go live with him in the s-hole from where he came.
Do non-citizen foreign trouble makers have a right to free speech?
Nekhaila is a Losertarian who fellates Hammie boys.
Yes. It is yet another example of how every single losertarian I know is an open border retard.
It is action not just speech! If it were speech there’d be slot of people in trouble
Get libertarians off FR now!
Libertarians? No. Libertines.
“a legal U.S. permanent resident”
How did that happen?!?
