‘ Is the Jig up for Elite Higher Education?’
Here’s hoping!
Victor Davis Hanson, The Doctor Phil of politics.
You’re not longer getting an education at an university, you’re getting indoctrinated (unless you’re training to become a nurse, doctor or engineer, etc)
They began gouging government agencies such as the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation by grabbing anywhere from 30 to 60 percent of individual campus grants as "overhead."
Did anyone else think it odd that dozens of Clinistas bailed into higher ed at $1,000,000+ salaries?

One can only pray.
Even then, they are pushing group think, and what was known as cookbook medicine in the health sciences. Medical care is shaped by consensual group think, algorithms, non payment for unaccepted treatment, preset reimbursement for specific procedures. True, some docs make up stuff, but now we have medical boards, reimbursement specialists, health planners decide what kind of therapy one gets.
Because universities could name their price before, they could get paid, even for malfeasance. Hopefully, no more.
They’re getting WOKE indoctrinated as well!
Tax the endowments and they will be.
PDH ping list me please. TIA
Please add me, thank you.
i thought 100% overhead charge was normal and customary.
I have a different perspective. I’m a graduate of the University of Florida, BSChE, 1973. Of course, I get the usual phone calls and emails from freshman co-eds about how I should make a contribution.
I live in Texas, and only occasionally get back to Gainesville. But when I do, I notice something. The university has extended far beyond the campus, they own what seems like half the town. Old buildings are bought and turned into university properties. It seems like they have a huge amount of money to spend on anything and everything.
Though the faculty and administrators at UF do skew heavily to the Left, it is nowhere near as bad as at the Ivies. The quality of the education is quite good from everything I’ve heard. I graduated as a history major in 94 and didn’t notice the lectures being overtly Commie propaganda and of course there wasn’t DEI back then. One of my best friends has a daughter at UF right now and she’s said its still academically rigorous so I don’t think our alma mater has been infected too badly with the worst excesses of Leftism.
The money the students have nowadays compared to even when I went is staggering. Even in the early 90s, only the ATO’s drove BMWs. Now it seems as though half the students have them. There are also some very swanky apartments and nice restaurants we never had when I was there. I think what has happened is a lot of kids from rich and Upper Middle Class families who used to go to the Ivies are now going to UF instead.

I like it and voted for it
Remember that comparison of an environmentalist to a watermelon: Green on the outside and (Commie) red on the inside?
College administrators have become sort of the opposite: Red on the outside and green (with greed and envy) on the inside.
Lenin would say “No statue for you!”
And even then…..
Nurses are some of the most indoctrinated students there are.
Emotional women plus leftist politics.
Bad combo
More like teachers.
None are elite.
Don’t need elite.
Need truth.
