HONOLULU (Hawaii News Now) -- Fountaining at Kilauea reached dramatic heights Tuesday evening.
Episode 12 of Kilauea’s current eruption began at around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday with small, sluggish lava flows from the south vent.
Two hours later, similar flows erupted from the north vent and both grew significantly throughout the day.
The U.S. Geological Survey said as of 3:15 p.m. fountains reached heights of 600 feet with flows covering approximately a third of Halemaumau crater.
Kilauea’s current eruption began on Dec. 23, 2024.

Our Earth is alive.
‘fountains reached heights of 600 feet’
That’s half the height of the Empire State Building.
Of course no mention of how much CO2 is being released, we’re all gonna die!
Thanks for the thread!
YouTubers Doing Hawaii, Two Pineapples, and Volcoholics/WildHorizons have great coverage of Kilaueau.
Mama Nature has GERD. ;-)
Hey Iceland: Hold my beer and watch THIS!
Celebrating Trump’s speech last night...................
How much of USGS has been downsized?
Could it take out an entire town? Which one?
I fear we will just make the volcano gods angrier if we do that, but hey, it’s worth a shot.
Mount Etna on the east side of Sicily has been putting on quiet an impressive show for the last couple months.
There are even pictures of people skiing/snowshoeing next to flowing lava. Etna is the most active volcano in the world.
Would Pele appreciate a human sacrifice...like say AOC? Or would that just piss her off all the more?
That is because there are around 52 active volcanoes in the world right now. They all pretty much emit constant amounts of CO2 and other more toxic gases. So much so that many of the islands that some are on (like the one off of New Zealand) are now off limits. No trespassing. Stepping foot on the islands is illegal.
What is interesting is places like Mount Etna in Sicily that erupts all the time. The tourist town of Taormina is just to its north and the city of Catania is just to the south. These towns literally have been there for thousands of years. Since being established by the Greeks or even earlier.
Also, the island of Stromboli to the north of Sicily where that volcano erupts every once in awhile and yet hundreds(maybe a thousand) people live on its eastern shore.

There’s only one way to find out!
Episode 15 started yesterday and Mme Pele is currently projectime vomiting.
