It was the first call U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth held with Mexico’s top military officials, and it wasn’t going well.
Hegseth told the officials that if Mexico didn’t deal with the collusion between the country’s government and drug cartels, the U.S. military was prepared to take unilateral action, according to people briefed on the Jan. 31 call. Mexico’s top brass who were on that call were shocked and angered, feeling he was suggesting U.S. military action inside Mexico, these people said. The Defense Department declined to comment.
Hegseth’s private warning—echoed by other Trump administration officials—now looms over Mexico’s trade talks with President Trump. Their fear: Demands that Mexico end fentanyl smuggling and migrant trafficking are quietly backed by potential U.S. military action—and not just 25% tariffs that would cripple the country’s economy.

Long overdue.
That is true.Interesting times ahead.
The call was a month ago. This week, cartel leaders were hand delivered to us. Hegseths call is working. Not a new event. Pearl clutches trying to lump this with zelensky event so they can say trump is blowing up all foreign relations.
Yep but they are so lost and weak they fail to realize this is actually creating more support for Trump amongst us unwashed masses.
“...if Mexico didn’t deal with the collusion
between the country’s government and drug cartels...”

You do not get elected in Mexico to any position from dog-catcher to Mayor,
to Governor, or to President unless you are supported by the cartels.
If you run for election on a platform to oppose the cartels,
you are found dead in a ditch the next day.
Nobody, and I mean NOBODY gets elected for any position in Mexico
unless they are supported by the cartels.
“The Mexican Government” IS “The Cartels”.
If Mexico’s government is colluding with terrorist groups (as they are now defined), we have a sovereign right to defend ourselves against their foreign aggression.
>> This week, cartel leaders were hand delivered to us. Hegseths call is working.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS is the important thing! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
>> “The Mexican Government” IS “The Cartels”.
Fair enough. Then we need to WIPE OUT “The Mexican Government” with extreme prejudice. We’ll be doing the citizens of Mejico a favor. Maybe more of them will feel like staying home and improving their own damn country.
“...cartel leaders were hand delivered to us...”

This was just the newer and younger cartel leaders
decided to get rid of the older cartel members
because they were old and obsolete
and no longer of any importance to them.
I didnt know it was a month ago.Secdef certainly got their attention.
I like it.win win
Pedro Whack-a-Mole.
WINNING !!!
Mexico’s President getting rid of her competitors. Opens up the field for her cartel.
Maybe you need anger management, per your screen name :)
I see no “pearl clutching”. I see nowhere in any posts that are saying this is a bad thing.
Xanax...it’s good for the nerves :)
The 29 or so handed over were already in jail
We need to kill the ones not jailed
Wack-a-mole on cartels
The only call signs we should be seeing from them is “hands up; high”
Sh## or get off the pot. This is what is needed. Thier government is compromised and will do nothing to stop the cartels because the government is the cartel
