Foreign adversaries including Russia and China have recently directed their intelligence services to ramp up recruiting of US federal employees working in national security, targeting those who have been fired or feel they could be soon, according to four people familiar with recent US intelligence on the issue. The intelligence indicates that foreign adversaries are eager to exploit the Trump administration’s efforts to conduct mass layoffs across the federal workforce – a plan laid out by the Office of Personnel Management earlier this week.

Russia and China are focusing their efforts on recently fired employees with security clearances and probationary employees at risk of being terminated, who may have valuable information about US critical infrastructure and vital government bureaucracy, two of the sources said. At least two countries have already set up recruitment websites and begun aggressively targeting federal employees on LinkedIn, two of the sources said. The adversaries think the employees “are at their most vulnerable right now,” another of the sources said. “Out of a job, bitter about being fired, etc.”

“It doesn’t take a lot of imagination to see that these cast aside federal workers with a wealth of institutional knowledge represent staggeringly attractive targets to the intelligence services of our competitors and adversaries,” a third source familiar with the recent US assessments told CNN.

Espionage against the US by current, or former, members of the US Government is punishable by life in prison without the eligibility of parole

Easy pickings. I have a family member who was solidly on the Trump train, until she got a letter from DOGE. She was insulted and now sees Trump and Musk as a couple of clowns.

It’s going to take a lot to reclaim this country.

The fired bureaucrats are in for a rude awakening if they think they can pull their usual stunts with Putin or Xi.

yes - they will be found and arrested.

but also anyone who would take such an offer requiring turning on your country for cash or a job should not be working for our government in the first place.

Maybe this is a scam by the white hats to flush out “Dark Blue, Dead-End Remainers”?

Maybe lots of ‘em have been ‘recruited’ by China for a long time. When democrats laid off the Keystone pipe workers they told them to ‘learn to code’ - there wasn’t any 8 months pay involved. But of course the press would forget that...and we all know why.

Too many ‘public servants’ living the high life on someone’s dime - beach houses, foreign trips, big stock portfolios - makes one wonder.

which four, MSN? two Chinese recruiters and two Russian recruiters? ... or just four guys who run the floor buffers at Langley and the Pentagon?

Why not? These people were traitors when they were in the FedGov. They’ll remain traitors now that they’ve been given the boot. Hopefully, all of their security clearances are being yanked now.

Very very high.

Unless you are a big time politician, the US Government lands like a ton of lead on anyone who mishandles classified documents much less sells themselves to foreign nations. Even people who spied for “friendly” countries, like Israel, learned that the hard way

“I have a family member who was solidly on the Trump train, until she got a letter from DOGE.”

was it the “list five things you did last week letter”?

if so, we got those every quarter where i used to work, except we had to justify the whole quarter ... we also had a task-assignment system, and for each completed task, we had to list the number of hours spent on the task ...

*** was it the “list five things you did last week letter”? ***

Yes.

I was in the private sector and had to do this weekly. It wasn’t “5 things”, it was: What did you do all week. It had to make sense, and had to justify my existence, or termination was a real possibility.

Trump should announce that any American caught spying for our adversaries will be shot. Well, maybe prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. But get out in front of this.
