President Trump welcomed British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to the White House on Thursday.
President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Prime Minister Keir Starmer met in the Oval Office to discuss a potential peace deal between Russia and Ukraine and the future of NATO.
At one point JD Vance called out Starmer to his face for infringements on free speech.
“I said what I said,” JD Vance said during the Oval Office meeting.
“We know that there have been infringements on free speech that actually affect not just the British, of course what the British do in their own country is up to them can but also affect American technology companies and by extension American citizens,” Vance said.
“So that is something that we’ll talk about today at lunch.”

JD Vance doubles down on his concerns about the UK’s free speech infringements.

British police have been arresting people over their social media posts criticizing transgender individuals.
Is this what Keir Starmer means when he says the UK has free speech?

The BBC reported the man was arrested for “malicious communications,” and a man who recorded the incident was arrested for allegedly “obstructing an arrest.”
Hampshire government provides this handy flyer on their 1984 approach to speech, noting that malicious communication includes:
And then there was the POTUS...
I love J.D.!!!!!!!!
It was awesome!
” You are an excellent tasting Captian. You let your second in command, attack, while you watch for weakness.”
I think he wins this apprentice show for 2028.
Tactician.
Comment section of the Daily Telegraph ripped Starmer a new one for not returning fire.
What’s two-tier Kier gonna do or say? The UK wants a better trade deal with us, they want to sell their storm shadow missiles, and they want in on the oil, gas and mineral deals to come.
It’s too bad that the Brits didn’t blast Starmer instead of defending him. Though that could land them in jail I guess, and he’s their guy and looked wimpy. (As an aside, in Germany the laws are even more strict and criticism of elected officials may now even be a worse crime than just insulting a regular citizen). Europe is losing itself. If you don’t have free speech you don’t have free thought and free debate; furthermore it’s impossible to know what someone may be offended by. One person can shrug off our laugh at a comment while another will fall into a tizzy and report you to the cops. JD is correct. He has to protect Americans and American tech companies from their nonsensical views on speech policing. We were well on our way to having similar laws - or at least tactics - here, with all the censorship, shadow banning, and big taxpayer money payments made to media outlets to support the government narrative. Thankfully Trump and JD won, and I believe most of these tech leaders switched to Trump specifically to get someone who would defend their businesses from draconian European regulations. They also got tired of all the emails and phone calls from US agencies telling them whom to ban and what to delete etc.
I like the cut of his jib!
This JD guy is growing on me every day. I’m really hoping he lives to be the follow up we need for 2028. It’s crazy to think he has to start planning in twoish years to build a campaign.
“This JD guy is growing on me every day.”
Romney thinking JD was the worst choice is just the cherry on the top.
And Trump did across there and proudly says to himself, “That’s my boy!”
Starmer is just bluster. Trump holds all the cards.
“Romney thinking JD was the worst choice is just the cherry on the top.”
Ooh I missed that info. I agree that definitely adds to JD’s reputation. 🤣
JD did not dance around what he said, great comeback JD
OOPS! I apologize for the double post. I asked mods to remove the second one.
