More than one million federal staffers, fewer than half the government’s workforce, have responded to Elon Musk’s demand to come up with five things they accomplished on the job last week, the White House said Tuesday. The edict was emailed to federal workers Saturday, with Musk announcing a deadline of 11:59 p.m. Monday to answer while warning on X that “failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.” Musk then walked back his threat Monday evening and offered the staffers a second chance to submit their responses I can announce that we’ve had more than one million workers who have chosen to participate in this very simple task of, again, sending five bullet points to your direct supervisor or manager,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters. The current federal workface is made up of 2.4 million people, excluding active-duty military and Postal Service employees, according to Trump administration data.

A lot of “workers” who are “working” from home apparently don’t even bother to log on and read their emails.

They weren’t even told to justify what they put in their list. They could have said 1. Drink milk. 2. Play golf 3. Play video games 4. Stare at computer screen 5. Leave for the bar at 3pm.

I bet if they had sent that, no one would have checked and their job would be safe.

There have to be quite a few fake identities, cyber pirates that live in other countries. Then are probably the deep state leftists, Soros et. al. There are probably hostile states such as NK, CCP, Iran, Russia that are doing this as a way to destabilize US budget.
This is more effective than counterfeiting.

If Pete told me to ignore it, I would. Or if Kash told me to ignore it, I would. Sorry but I listen to the first chain of command and let them fight it out.

Now Musk and Trump know which side all of the federal workers are on...VERY CLEVER way to find out.

I wonder if lots that did reply are ghost employees.

I bet they’re checking the IP address or where the emails are being sent from to see if 500 are coming from the governor’s mansion.

They weren’t even told to justify what they put in their list.

Exactly. The purpose of this exercise was simply to distinguish (along with other big data tools they have) who is real, living employee, able to respond - and who is just a ghost employee. It has nothing to do with vetting their job or performance.

I have no doubt that Fed.gov, like the old Iraqi or Ukraine army, has departments full of made up names, for which payroll, overhead, etc... are paid - and that money is used for some unintended and corrupt purpose.

An AI routine will be reading them, and non-productive responses reviewed by people for actionable evidence for firing.

That’s kinda what I’m reading.

DOGE should do a census and visit every federal worker. DOGE should have a name and address for everyone. That would be fun.

Muskovites are now totally distracted from the deep state. making people who work do more work to cover for Musk’s inability to identify what he believes is an issue. The deep state loves this guy. so easy to distract from the real issue.

or on family leave taking care of the wife with cancer. Musk is an asshole. You don’t fix a management issue by making someone who is working do more work. First sign of a bad manager. deep state loves this guy already distracted.

Some of those 1.4 million may have been FBI and DoD employees who were following their cabinet secretaries’ orders. But it’s still a lot.
