Pointing out missteps is the scriptural command for all. None of us is perfect, but if what we say or do conflicts with Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, we are obligated to speak.

So he’s reaping what he’s sown

Lots of the usual invective toward Pope Francis on these threads even as he is dying. It's a shame that some people, including those that consider themselves Christians, cannot simply disagree or have a dislike for can't express it without being hateful, insulting, and vicious.

I have no clue. However I refuse to be bullied by the willingly ignorant to pretend like he was holy. Little Peter lingo, willingly ignorant. Truly amazing how much of Peter’s own words are ignored.. Christ declared all but the elect would be deceived.. living prophecy and history.

Not a good time for Sam to Quantum Leap into the Pope.

May his suffering be short and his office taken by a righteous man.

Your sentiment is perfect. I hope he doesn't suffer, I hope he has an opportunity to repent as a pastor who appears to have deviated significantly from scripture in leading his church body, and trust that God will install the person necessary for God's plan in that position of authority.

The real pope died December 31, 2022. The chair has been vacant since then.

Why? Popes, monks, priests, all of them are capable of evil and all of those offices are capable of being filled by evil people who are dedicated to sin and defilement. Paul cautioned against relying on those claiming authority if their teachings are contrary to scripture. Popes and priests, in terms of their offices, are nothing special — being a Pope in the Catholic church only means that God’s plan required that individual to be in that office at that time. It does not mean that that individual was godly or even a Christian.

Christ’s Church will abide, but the individuals who claim to lead it may be saved or they may be imposters wearing the garb. It is the duty of the church to recognize this and resist false doctrine. Francis was not at the level of the S’Borgia or de’Medici popes, but arguably his perversion of doctrine in the service of worldly desires and ego was so much worse. Ultimately, given the history of the papacy, there is literally no basis for defending an individual just because they happen to hold a holy office. That is the road by which the Catholic church body ignores abuses — sexual and otherwise — committed by those who hold its offices. (I’m not ignoring that other Christian church bodies commit the same abuses). But the office should absolutely never insulate the individual holding that office from accountability, regardless of whether they’ve done nice things like marriages, baptisms, communions, etc.

In other words, the office deserves respect but the individual deserves absolute accountability. The difference between respect to the office and accountability of the individual is that we pray and hope and trust that God will appoint the overseers (officers) to the office that suit God’s plan, but sometimes God’s plan is a test for Christians to determine whether they worship God or the office that God created.

Karma is the Biblical concept in the Old Testament of an eye for an eye. It has nothing to do with being a God.

It is also in several of the parables such as the debtor who was forgiven, but did not forgive what was owed to him. Bottom line is “You reap what you sow.”
