Banning AP will potentially violate AP’s Fifth Amendment right to due process. See Sherrill v Knight 569:F.2d 124. Also see Southeastern Promotions v. Conrad, 420 U.S. 546 pertaining to the press and the First Amendment.

It would be a much stronger position for Trump to reinstate the AP press credentials and completely ignore them.

I would have let AP stay, I just wouldn’t call on them much. If I did call on them, and they said GOM instead of GOA, I would say that “First I will get to your question after I correct you and say it is now GOA.” Then I would ignore their question and call on someone else.
