Exclusive — JD Vance on Cabinet Confirmations: ‘Knock On Wood,’ But ‘I Think We Get Every Single One of Our Nominations Through’
Breitbart ^ | 4 Feb 2025 | Matthew Boyle and Nick Gilbertson

Vice President JD Vance told Breitbart News exclusively in his West Wing office in the White House on Tuesday that while he’s “superstitious,” he does believe all of President Donald Trump’s cabinet nominations will be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Vance’s interview came just as there were several major breakthroughs for the president’s remaining cabinet picks, with key senators announcing support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary and for former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence (DNI). Meanwhile, Kash Patel’s nomination for FBI director is moving forward smoothly, as are the remaining Trump Cabinet picks. Vance, of course, also cast the tie-breaking vote in the U.S. Senate as Vice President for now Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth late last month. These breakthroughs have all come after a months-long battle for each to win confirmation, and if these remaining nominees make it, as it appears at this stage they will, they will have weathered some really nasty storms since their nominations were announced by Trump during the transition. Just after this interview on Tuesday morning at the White House, key senate committees voted to advance RFK’s and Gabbard’s nominations and they will be heading to the U.S. Senate floor soon.

“Knock on wood, as you know I’m very superstitious,” Vance told Breitbart News. “Looking at this from sort of the perspective in December at the nominations that we had—we had Kash Patel, we had Tulsi, we had Bobby, we had Hegseth. You had a lot of people where we saw this sort of immune response from the swamp to a lot of these nominations and I definitely thought to myself okay, how many of these guys are we going to be able to get across the finish line, and if you told me...

I heard that GOP reps who were considering voting against any of them were getting 600 phone calls per minute through the capitol switchboard.

One more thing, I also think that J.D. had a lot of input in convincing the doubters to vote yes. I would call it a team effort.

I think Trump has most of the Republicans by the short ones: a) they're terrified that his influence and Shanahan's and Musk's money can unseat them in the primaries; b) some know what dirt on them will come to light through DOGE's work and hope to hang on via sycophancy.

Among them Dems, there's the growing realization they're powerless without any RINO losers to play along. Some of them, like Fetterman, are at least beginning to look at their voters. Some may jump ship.

Right now the Dem's Congressional polling is abysmal.

Dont get too cocky, still waiting for many more, like a fair SEC chairman, who is not a slave to Liz Warren and wall street dim party donors

“JD is a great VP.”

I have to agree with you on that. I like how he handles the press. It shows how sharp he is.

Two things: 1) The transition was planned at a secure Mar-a-Lago. B) Leon Musk.

Maybe it was Bondi all along, and Gaetz was a head fake. Gaetz withdrew with hardly a fight.

Three things. The GSA wasn’t used for the transition. No leaks from saboteurs.

Now its Musk using X to get the message out.

After the Biden ‘clown show’ appointees, Liberals can’t really be taken seriously in their ‘objections’
