Democrats' playbook to beat Republicans in 2 years: work with them now
ABC News ^ | Dec 2024 | Tal Axelrod

Democrats have a plan to take back power in Washington back from Republicans in two years: work with them now.

Democrats, who are already planning their comeback after being swept out of power in Washington last month, have said they'll oppose President-elect Donald Trump and his allies when their values collide but are open to cooperation on a range of issues, including immigration, federal spending and entitlements.

The strategy marks a turnaround from 2017, when "resistance" to Trump was Democrats' rallying cry. But, some lawmakers and operatives said, it also marks a challenge to Republicans for bipartisanship at a time when narrow GOP congressional majorities will likely mandate some level of cooperation.

"People want to see government work, and we're going to hold Republicans accountable for whether they're willing to help move things forward for the American people. So, if they aren't, then absolutely, that will impact them at the ballot box," said Rep. Suzan DelBene, D-Wash., who led House Democrats' campaign arm this year and will do so again for the 2026 midterms.

"I think we are telling them that we're here to govern," DelBene added. "And I guess the question is, are they serious about governing?"

I am not worried about Trump fulfilling his end of the bargain — worried about the GOP.

Same old playbook. They did this in 2018. They ran in purple and light red districts as “Me Too” GOP lite. It will be up to the GOP campaigns to point out that their actions now are totally contrary to what they did when they were in power.

The Democrats can’t be a “centrist” party period. Their far left activist wing is powerful and they control the party apparatus and the money!

Does hysterical screaming during Senate confirmation hearings count as “working with Republicans”?

Lol.

We’re going to hold Republicans accountable for MAGA.

Their destruction agenda is what killed their party live with it.

This is great stuff for the poor staving Surrender Monkeys. You quislings haven’t have much to feel good about lately so latching on to a insane “plan” fed to them by the failed msm, is all they have left.

PS I loved the ominous, “worried about the GOP” ooooh, sooo scary.

Page 197 from Democrats campaign playbook for TV ads blanketing counties smaller than 300,00 population, and all rural areas:

Costume: old looking workboots, slightly worn blue jeans, dirty well worn John Deere cap, over sized red flannel shirt worn untucked, hound dog, double barrel shotgun, 1987 F150 pickup truck.

Greeting: Always say howdy, with awe shucks, golleee, and fixin supper phrases sprinkled in as often as can be done. Very important, always talk slow, and with a twang and a drawl.

Works every time. Also, always show up at high school football games.

ps Suspenders are an effective costume piece too.

Y’all know Democrats could care less about Americans, All they care about is their Democrat base and keeping power over all others eg. taxpayers.
Most Democrats aren’t Americans, they are Democrats who happen to live in America.

It’s almost axiomatic that the party in power will lose seats in the midterm. As such, the Dems are more likely than not to take back the House in 2026. It’d be awesome if Trump can beat the odds (he’s done it before), but we can’t count on that. Thus, it’s imperative that Trump maximize these 2 years, and he’s certainly operating like he understands that.

Does he really have a majority in the House with the RINOs, though? Asking for a friend...

Worshiping at the altar of governance is worshiping at the altar of $37 Trillion debt.

To prevent seat losses, redistrict Red states. Seat holders winning by 20% need to accept redrawing district to move 10-14% of their 20% margin to districts that are closely blue.

There ARE blue seats in Red states, and they can be redistricted away, as was done in Calif.

All it takes is GOPe Swamp filth to give up their 20% lead and accept a 6% win.

Just a reminder all, this is just ONE election cycle.
Huge turnout similar to 2024 is just as necessary in 2026 n 2028.
IF Dems regain the House or Senate, the last 2 years will be Impeachment, Impeachment, Impeachment!!!
MAGA needs to string election cycle WINS together.

“Costume: old looking workboots, slightly worn blue jeans, dirty well worn John Deere cap, over sized red flannel shirt worn untucked, hound dog, double barrel shotgun, 1987 F150 pickup truck.”

Angie Craig, my Dem member of Congress, behaves exactly like this every election year. She votes like Ilhan Omar and AOC - but come election time, she throws away a few votes in order to look moderate/reasonable. She also reverts back to the TV ads of her in a Jeep and wearing jeans.

Her district is an odd one - about 1/2 suburb and 1/2 rural. She knows the suburban soccer moms love her and won’t care what she says or does in a TV commercial - but she wants to appear reasonable to the other half of her district.

Don’t see this happening. Progressives are taking over the party and it still hasn’t moved to the left enough for them. The old guard is dying off and the Progressives will take over completely soon.

They want to obstruct, obstruct, obstruct...

I don't think they're any Democrats like Bill Clinton left.

Joe Manchin was probably the last one and he's no longer in the Senate.

It's an Elitist Party restricted to both coasts and the Great Lakes.
