The U.S. Senate voted on Monday to confirm Scott Bessent as Treasury secretary in President Donald Trump’s administration.

The Senate voted 68-29 to confirm the Wall Street veteran, with 16 Democrats joining all Republicans to choose Bessent for the post. He will be the 79th Treasury secretary.

Bessent, the founder of Key Square Group, will play a key role helping Trump enact his economic agenda, including having insight on tax policy.

He is being confirmed as the U.S. government grapples with its debt and deficit. The federal government has spent roughly $711 billion more than it has collected in the 2025 fiscal year, according to the Treasury’s fiscal data website. Meanwhile, the national debt has ballooned to more than $36.2 trillion.

Another confirmation completed. I'm waiting for Pam Bondi to be confirmed. That hearing is the one that will be interesting.

What? No beach chicks to claim rape 30 years ago? No girl friends to claim beat up? No hookers to claim he was in the bar drinking more then they were working the bar? This one must be Deep State! 😱😱😱

Stall, stall, stall.. Pam Bondi won't be confirmed until the DOJ is finished SHREDDING/ERASING all data relating to their vast criminal conspiracies. They're a little behind schedule.

Same with Patel for FIB but they'll fight him the hardest since he knows who the "GOVERNMENT GANGSTERS" are.

I believe Bessent is gay, so the “ME TOO” crowd went home.

No kidding. I also look for the SEC chairman to get voted in so he can find out how much money Gensler and Liz Warren were taking from dimmycrat donor Wall street banks.

Why wouldn't they confirm him?? Kamala would have made him her Secretary of the Treasury. This is a huge win for Democrats.

This guy is a radical progressive. He is a longtime protégé of George Soros, a longtime partner at Soros' company.

He is also gay, with a husband, and with more than half a billion dollars.

Probably the farthest left of any Treasury Secretary ever.

I think Bondi has the votes. Not worried about her as much as Tulsi, Kash, and RFK.

Ditto. That woman brings back great memories of PDJT press secretary Kayleigh McEnany. It was so refreshing to see a no- nonsense in control truth talker take control of a room full of filthy quisling liberal press agents.

There are probably a good amount of Senate Rats who ONLY voted for Rubio. In their opinion Trump should just get no cabinet members 🤣

From the other thread:

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4293099/posts

“As Treasury Secretary, I’m committed to eliminating income taxes, replacing them with a fair consumption tax, and adopting a gold-backed currency,” Bessent said in a Monday post on X following his confirmation. “We’ll erase debt, restore financial privacy, and unlock new technologies for a prosperous future. The golden age starts now.”

George Bush and many others said something similar.

What do you think is more of an indication: A politician's blurb, or their lifelong belief system and working for George Soros?

The guy has excellent Deep State credentials. Your telling this is even close to the best we could do?

Didn't we do that for more than 30+ years, and let the left take over.

You must have loved George Bush. And Mitt Romney, who said he was a "severe conservative."

Yes, that is the best we can do. MAGA folks don’t go into international finance. Very hard to find true MAGA at the pinnacle of finance. Just as Dems always had a hard time finding SecDef back when they were all Republicans, and they had to appoint a string of Repubs as SecDefs.

Bessent has a new boss now.

President Trump.

And President Trump set the groundwork, regarding income tax, etc .

So did Pence, Sessions, Barr, Mattis, Kelly, and more.

I don't agree with you that Deep Staters never lie.
