New Orleans received a record 8 inches of snow, shattering its previous high mark of 2.7 inches set in 1963. A historic winter storm swept across the Gulf Coast on Tuesday, bringing heavy snow and icy conditions to the Southeast, while most of the country faced dangerously cold temperatures from an arctic blast that arrived over the weekend.
Winter storm warnings remained in effect on Wednesday in eight states from Louisiana to Virginia. A blizzard warning was issued for the first time along parts of Louisiana's coast. Heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain were expected to continue Wednesday from Florida to North Carolina.
According to CNN, at least nine fatalities have been reported as a result of the storm and extreme cold. Five people died in a crash due to icy road conditions in Zavala County, Texas, authorities said.

Amazing. An entire story in Yahoo News about an unprecedented weather event and “climate change” is not mentioned once.
Right to the edge of The Gulf of America 🇺🇸
Fun fact: 12,000 years ago, most of North America was under ice a mile high. If it wasn’t for climate change, we wouldn’t have natural wonders like The Great Lakes, Niagara Falls and Yosemite Sam National Park among many other beautiful landscapes. Thank you, Climate Change.

I’m sure if this happened in 1978 they would mention it
Global cooling - the coming ice age
Which Gulf are they talking about?
My friends in BTR got more snow than I did here in NC.
The Gulf of AMERICA!
I feel sorry for all the Pit Bulls chained to trees in New Orleans.
And since most of America gets snow and Mexico doesn’t, Mother Nature celebrated the name change in a most appropriate way!
Has it melted by now ? LOL
10” inches of snow usually does not get melted right away. It gets above freezing on Thurs in New Orleans so I suspect by weekend much of it is gone.
10 day weather forecast is for 43 tomorrow, 45 Friday and 50 Sat so New Orleans is going to be mucky for a day or two and then it will be done
Where I am sitting used to be under that mile of ice.
Following that it was the bottom of a huge lake for a long time.
Viva climate change!
(But not the man made climate change hoax promoted by the cultists.)
You are right. And in less than 15-20 millennia north America will again be covered with glaciers during next ice age. That will kill most mammals. Burning fossil fuels could delay ice age by a thousand years, giving extra years of life to mammals living on this continent.
Couple of inches of snow in Jacksonville nc.
