With our current cloning technology we should be able to
preserve all species of flora and fauna for the future.

I have lots of Texas Sage/Scarlet Sage on my property. It is very prolific and the pollinators love it as do hummingbirds.

““Although big red sage is commonly planted in cultivated landscapes, this showy plant is rarely spotted in the wild,” said U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service...”

So, it’s planted all over the state for landscaping (abundant!), it is rarely found in its natural state/habitat which is on privately owned land.

I don’t think Texas property owners are gonna like this authority grab.

Looks like the kind of invasive weed the government will fine you for if it grows on your property.

well if past is prologue and they classify it endangered it will be your ability to do as you please with your own property that will become endangered. ..

we had a farmer in Tehama county that the EPA crucified over a puddle in his hay field over an EPA agency ruling. i wish you luck.

More of FJB’s land grabbing to put minerals, oil or, water off limits to farmers. Starve America into Gate’s lab-grown garbage.

Excuse me but a plant is neither a fish or wildlife!

Let me guess. It ONLY grows where drilling is to occur.

As a capitalist I say let plant growers and nurseries collect these plants and seeds and start selling them to the public at a public. BUT.. No. Government says shut down a few more millions acres , start another bureaucracy and fund it with billions of dollars to “study” the effects of global warming.

I think it was Rush Limbaugh who said if you want to save a species start eating it.

The big red sage is celebrated for its aesthetic and ability to spread. The stems, rich in rhizome, can live at least 10 years and big red sages have an innate ability to respond to changing environments.

With that description, it doesn't sound very endangered to me. That last bit sort of flicks the "climate change" threat right off the list, too.

It will be like having a Bald Eagle nesting on your property. You can do nothing - run no machinery, cannot sell, cannot log. Just nothing that would in anyway disturb this plentiful bird. So the same with this plant. No cattle, no mining, no nothing within 1000 or more feet

I told Chet Edwards (our Commie Congress Critter at the time) during the Golden Cheeked Warbler fiasco, that I would never cut down a tree that had an occupied nest but that if they TOLD me I couldn’t that I would bulldoze my whole property just to show I could.

Gee, whatever did Mother Nature do before the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) came along? Well, for one thing for the past half billion years species routinely came into existence, existed for a while and then became extinct to be replaced with new species. That’s what happens in the NATURAL world. I guess the FWS bureaucrats don’t really like the natural world and its nature.

It’s not endangered.
According to the article, it’s used for landscaping all over Central Texas.

Tull I opened the article I thought they were talking about a “Big red sage” grouse, not a plant.
