Pro-Trump Latino business leaders launch campaign for border security and legal status for ‘Dreamers’ and essential workers { Chicago }

Sam Sanchez, a Chicago-based restaurateur, hadn’t planned to get involved in politics until he realized that his voice was a platform that many of his undocumented employees didn’t have.

When recently arrived migrants from mostly Venezuela received expedited work permits from the Biden administration, he noticed the anger and disappointment that some of his undocumented workers from Mexico — who had been in the country for decades — felt.

“A lot of the people that are struggling and who have been waiting for a job permit for years got passed over and it made a lot of people mad. There’s a lot of resentment and I see my employees struggle,“ said Sanchez, who owns Moe’s Cantina and other Chicago restaurants and is on the board of the National Restaurant Association.

So Sanchez headed to the White House to advocate for them. “All we wanted was job permits,” he said. But that didn’t happen. As a result, Sanchez and other like-minded Latinos backed a different choice in November’s election and gave their support, and votes, to Donald Trump despite the threats of mass deportations. They blame the Democratic Party for failing to provide a comprehensive immigration reform, which has been in debate by both political parties for decades.

"But we have seniority as lawbreakers! We're entitled to those work permits!"

Officer, why are you giving me a ticket? I’ve been speeding a lot longer and faster than all the other people out on this highway.

Come on people. We’re gonna need MOST of them. We can pick and choose. You are all old enough to remember Trump saying they ALL could stay if they never voted and the democrats were having none of it. They’re code word was ‘comprehensive’.

Cutting off the cancer of violent lawbreakers will be a start.

Longer version.
Conservative business owners want to be part of the solution.
No one in their right mind thinks that all the people who have been here for decades, working, in many cases paying taxes, with no other crime than overstaying a visa will be deported.
There will be a compromise. There may be a fine. There may or may not be an eventual path to citizenship but there will be a path for some people to regularize their status if they have obeyed the law other than being in the USA without permission and are self supporting.
The USA needs to accept some responsibility for the mess that resulted from the 10-20 year backlog in applications for green cards. Many of the people who have been in limbo for decades tried and would have been very willing to have pursued their green cards. Immigration lawyers to them to wait because applications were not being reviewed.

The immigration system, with quotas and lotteries, which was instituted by democrats many years, ago operates against American interests. The only immigration allowed should be people with a skillset America requires, who have a sponsored job or can provide evidence of support. They should not be eligible for welfare. I do not support the practice of immigration for humanitarian reasons. Better those individual be hosted in a country close to the home country with some monetary support for the host country.

There is an interesting process ongoing in LA.

Shoplifters can go to Target or Walgreens and walk out with less than $950 worth of merchandise wnd no arrest. But across town, they can be arrested for looting some trivial used household goods. They can as a matter of fact, be arrested for merely appearing to be looters.

Shoplifting is OK, but appearing to be a looter is a felony

"Undocumented employees" are to the business owner "criminal liabilities".

They’re going to stab us in the back again, just wait. They’ll remove some criminals then they’ll start weaseling.

Well, they can't be very "pro Trump" then. I want EVERY wetback out! Every sex...every age...every color (I've read that there are more than a few wetback Irishmen living here).I don't care how they got here,or when.I don't care how much English they speak...or how well educated they are.

If they leave on their own...that is "self deport"...without ever having been ordered to leave by a court (like Obama's Aunt and Uncle were)...they can apply for residency in their home country in the usual way. Otherwise, they're tossed out and never allowed to enter the US again...for any reason.

Too bad for the illegals.

I don’t care about their whining.

Lots of people immigrate legally. They can, too.

Have the employer put up a no interest bond to guarantee the employee is worth it. After 5-10 years the government keeps the interest. This is done with the idea we’re gonna need good people.

My UBER driver has a full time job in addition to driving. He was from India. How many Americans are willing to do that to get ahead? To do that he has to be in pretty tight with his family where his wife has 2 jobs. I think the naysayers here are just worried these people will be their bosses some day and favor their own hard-working kind.

Just get rid of the million or so felons first. The rest will take care of themselves. JD said it best A family will be separated when a criminal gets put in jail.

PDJT’s mission is immigration, border security, budget deficits n NO NEW WARs.

Sundance posted about using THE PERFECT to void out the good by PDJT or his nominees. Example: Trump secures the border and deports 2 million, the media, RINOs or even Alex Jones will say - well he didn’t deport 2.5 million, so PDJT has failed or lied.
I’m good with OPTIMAL solutions!
I’m for a path for Dreamers, maybe even others.

Dreamers are a thorny issue but I’m thinking 47 is not above spending some political capital in order to move his agenda...
